I would like to do it when I get married this spring. My dad doesn't have any boys and my kids are going to have a different last name than me no matter what so it's not going to make explaining that any more difficult.

Have any of you chose the hyphenate route?

in many other cultures, women are not expected to give up their names. adding another one on is just the way it's done.

My sister and I were the last to carry our name also, but I am traditional in this - I took my husbands name. Of course, my father was not alive to request anything different of me. I chose to incorporate his name with my boys instead.

For me, even now with the option to go back to my maiden one, I would rather carry the same as my sons. In my heart I never stopped being a "_______" girl.

I didn't go with the hyphenated name. I think it is just up to the individual what they want. I have often wondered what happens if you have a son or daughter. Do they normally have the hyphenated name too?

Anyway congratulations on the wedding! I think it is totally up to what you want to do.

I can't physically have any more kids and if we adopt the babies/children would have his last name. I want to go to Wings MaidenName-MarriedName. I HATE my legal name right now. Hate it with a fiery passion borne of a thousand suns. I love my maiden name and I didn't have enough balls to keep it during my first marriage.

If it's good enough for Horgina Fortesque-Ramsbottom is good enough for you.

I like the idea of people with hyphenated names getting married and hyphenating their names again. It could get really funny.

In many cultures women are married off in exchange for a good cow, so....

The struggle continues.

You know you can change you name to Paris Hilton if you wanted too right?

Just change your f'ing name to whatever you want.

I'm not a fan of hyphenated names. Just keep your maiden name.

Was I asking for your blessing to change it? No. Put your bitch away, it has no place here. I was looking for people who have hyphenated their names and either hated it or loved it.

You should throw in an extra hyphen so your name reads like a social security number. The dumb won't understand it and the smart will be puzzled. How often do you get to stump 99% of the population all at the same time?

Don't let Killswith-aroo get your panties wadded up.

Smart man.

Ha! My name is weird enough, people have been puzzled by it since my birth.

I never think of WINGS without thinking of balls. Has your victim seen your balls?

Nothing wrong with it. I did it with my last names. I am the same person with or without the hyphen!

it'll be a pain in the rear on forms, but I quite like the sound of some of them.

also, it's tragic that for killswitch, being loathed and ridiculed on lit is the closest he gets to having friends.

Maybe you both could have hyphenated last names?

When you get married you can choose any last name in most states.
You guys can choose a completely new name if you want.

If and when I get married I will most likely keep my last name unless I wanted to disappear. My profession such as it is, is in my last name.
