Recently read Dark Pulse's "Going Feet First" series and was hooked from the onset so I figured I'd dust off my brain and pick my writing back up again. I've been writing fantasy short stories for a few years and have been working on a novel off and on for years but never something that could be classified as erotica. As a nod to Dark Pulse, my story is a similar sci-fi/fantasy blend but using a modern soldier and a fantasy world that a few are familiar with: Forgotten Realms. Thought I'd get some feedback from other authors who have read works like Salvatore and Cunningham's (been told my writing is similar) and see if it'd be something they'd be interested in. Pointers and other author reviews of my work are also appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds intriguing, and you'll soon get others asking you to make it easy and include the link to your story here. Welcome, and enjoy.

I've not read the authors you've discussed. I do love Fantasy and think it works well with erotica, which often if done in a real-life context is more a wish fulfilment exercise (nothing wrong in that) it's just I much prefer a more escapist type of story.

Like James Bond is realistic (two steps away from the world we inhabit) it doesn't have to be a huge, sprawling Tolkien Middle Earth, or King's Dark Tower realm.

I'd love to help with any suggestions or even ideas. I'm not precious with them and if I can help a fellow artist reach some sort of goal I don't mind.

Far better than locking an idea away in my imagination, never to be given a chance to be nurtured.

Well I'm about 3k words in and I've barely gotten past the introduction lol. I think this one may be a bit long winded

One thing about writing in an established fantasy world: Technically, according to the site guidelines, those stories are supposed to go into "Celebrities", because that's the fanfic category on Lit. If you're using the people and places from that established world, it's fanfic, even if the story centers on a character of your own creation.

There seems to be some wobble room on this with Sci-Fi&Fantasy, but I think that's as much to do with Laurel ( the person approving stories ) not recognizing the source material as much as anything. There have been stories reported by readers and moved from Sci-Fi&Fantasy to Celebrities after publication because of this, if I'm remembering correctly.

Since you're just getting started, you might want to give some consideration to taking it out of Forgotten Realms and setting it in your own world. Sci-Fi&Fantasy is hardly the most-read category on the site, but Celebrities is a reader wasteland.

Well I'm not too far into the story that it can't be changed. So far there are only references to locations in the FR world. Thanks for that input. Will definitely save me some headache.

No problem :)

It's probably an off chance that someone would report it in Sci-Fi&Fantasy, but I think you're better off going original anyway.

For one thing, people are going to inevitably come at you with things like, "Elminster would never do that!" and "At this point in the timeline, Drizzt was in Silverymoon. I call bullshit!"

They may not even be right, but they're likely to do it anyway LOL

And if you suddenly need the world-famous, god-like wizard in your story to do something that you don't believe Elminster would do, you don't have to worry about that, either.

You can keep all the flavor of the world, but still have the freedom to tweak things to suit your story.
