Are we ready to roll that thing back yet? Or is that what will happen in 2017 after the obscenity of this election cycle?

Campaign finances won't get reformed until an independent wins the Presidency.

That might happen after pigs fly over the frozen wastes of Hell.

You might make a case for Lincoln being an independent because the Republican Party was not really a national party at the time, although they were dominant in the West and North. Otherwise, the closest anybody has come was Teddy Roosevelt of the Bull Moose Party in 1912.

It doesn't matter. Jeb Bush has all the money and no one to help him spend it. The partner to wealth is popularity, and 15% of GOP voters want him. Can money buy love?

"Roll back" is simply not an option. The supreme court ruled that contribution limits are an unconstitutional infringement of free speech. So short of a constitutional amendment on contribution limits, Citizens United ruling stands.

Don't hold your breath waiting for something like that to pass. Congress critters, of all parties, aren't about to cut themselves off from the steady supply of mothers' milk, nor are members of the state legislatures who would have to approve an amendment.

Something else to consider: Very rich people and families can and often do finance their own campaigns and such an amendment would tip the scales even farther in their favor.

It would be great if the effects of big bucks could be somewhat neutralized but I don't believe this would be the way to do it.

When placing bet on passing a constitutional amendment, my advice is always take the under.

I don't believe an amendment is possible in the current environment.

It's more likely that the Supreme Court would simply reverse its earlier, idiotic decision, but that would obviously require a change in the makeup of the Court.

2016 could be the last semi-free election we ever have in the United States.

I don't think we'll get any kind of change from the status quo without the pressure of outside (disastrous) events. 2008 was sort of a dress rehearsal. My guess is that technology will be involved somehow.

Funny how you liberals think

No break for you.

Fine. I will restate. Are we ready to overrule that stupid decision yet? Or is that what will happen in 2017 after the obscenity of this election cycle?

List of overruled U.S. Supreme Court decisions

Its not proven, and it certainly isnt a fact.

His real name is Barry Soweto.... in case you wondered. Maybe that riot lover George Soros paid for the name change? He contributed 30 million to the Ferguson riots, you would think Holder would investigate, but no he cant, George is a buddy of Barry.

His mother was American, and he was born on American soil. There is no evidence to challenge these facts.

Waaaaahhhhhhhooooow.

Schmucks like you still exist, eh? Amazing.

It's like those tales of guys from WWII with Rip Van Winkle beards being found on uncharted desert islands in the Pacific — you know, the kind with like, one palm tree and a starfish on the beach — and they have no idea that the war has been over for ages. Or that famous enclave of escaped Nazis still living in a secret Brazilian jungle hideaway.

Relics. Living fossils. Coelacanths. :D
