I saw it this afternoon. Its a goddamned 1 STAR Chick Flick.

I watched the trailer the other day and fucking knew Clint would sneak a whiny woman into the film. Son of a bitch.

I liked the movie, I really did. My only complaint was they didn't portray the wife as a very likeable person. She was a nag. I can understand her having issues with his military duty, but even when they first met she came off as super bitchy. They never showed the audience why she was appealing, except that she was pretty.

It was Sienna Miller, I barely recognized her as a brunette.

So, faux brunette.

Clint could have done a lot more with the movie, explained PTSD and some of the problems vets have when returning to the real world.

In the combat zone he'd just left, keeping your vehicle moving was crucial to survival. Showing him getting tense and hyper-alert in a typical urban traffic jam and explaining it would have been an easy thing to do.

Many things that are learned as survival traits in a combat zone don't come off well with the civilians at home, including spouses.

It would not have been hard to weave some of those into the story, perhaps in the person of some of the vets he was helping.

The other thing I didn't like about the film was the spotter on the sniper team, who never seemed to be doing any spotting, but was basically sitting on his ass. Clint was always big on lone heroes, but a sniper team is a team. He could have left that spotter out, for all the good he was doing.

Too bad Blockbuster closed, you could've gone and rented Chuck Norris' Missing In Action XVI and felt all manly again.

Hate the greatest 'merican movie ever made? Turn in yer tea bag you librul comie fag..

As a movie we thought it sucked too. It never helps when you already know the story and ending but I can't see what the fuss is about.

I can't understand why the numbers are being reported as so high for this deal.

If all you need to see is arabs killed you can rent schindlers list.

The military action in the movie reminded me of our local SWAT team when they play urban cluster fuck out at Dodge City.

And I have a very different idea of PTSD. I went thru Vietnam and met one kid with real PTSD. In combat he killed a friend who ran into the field of fire. The kid was upset and OCD about it. Every other "PTSD" I ever assessed acquired a drinking problem in the army and used PTSD as an excuse for being a drunk. Plenty of PTSD guys never served in the army or went to Vietnam. PTSD is the bullshit disorder.

FULL METAL JACKET is a much better depiction of Marines in urban battle.

I am sure I'll see it eventually.

I have a book that I like about a sniper after he returned to civilian life. I like it for how well crafted the story was, but like a lot of novels, I learned a lot about their trade craft from the novel. I always wndered if they somehow had the same advisors because some elements of the book ended up in the movie Sniper with Tom Behrenger, but the plot is not at all the same.

Sniper training is essentially the same no matter which service does it. Yes, there are quirks here and there but on the whole, the process and tactics are the same.

You could get someone from a SEAL sniper team and someone from a Marine sniper team and they would, for a movie, give you the same basic information.
