JAJ's New House project

Non-bearing?

I would say so, since the wood beam is fake.

What's the plan to deal with the wood beam? Replace it with a longer one? Remove it? Sneak an extension onto it?

I like the wood and brickwork in the house. Late 1960's?

The den at my parents house has a very similar setup regarding those beams on the ceiling. Their house was built in 1963.

Great idea, open floor plan ftw!

What's wrapped up, running through the wall?

Yes sir.....the floor joist above all ran parallel to the wall......

My tip was the direction of the staircase. They usually run parallel to the floor joists.

Or "joyceseses", if you's redneck/white-trash enough.

I was thinking of putting in some hardwood floors. So I ripped up a strip of carpet then realized how heavy carpet is. The project is on hold until I noodle out this development.

Convicts work our dumps. Always helpful.

Do you have one of those nail guns for flooring that you smack with the hammer? If so, you could bring it over and save me the $15 a day rental fee from Home Cheapo
