The King Is Dead...

Huh. Didn't look 90 to me. Dude musta dyed his beard and stache or something.

Story says the new king is Abdullah's half-brother Salman. Succession in SA apparently is to the old king's senior near relation, not to his son.

That's a recipe for permanent gerontocracy. Salman is 79.

To vetteman, he was "the King". I guess we know now where his loyalty lies.

King Abdullah should be remembered as a solid ally of the United States in a region where such allies are few.

Unfortunately he was never made to answer for his support and funding of Bin Laden.

The Bush family made sure of that.

Uh, leaving aside their blatant funding of terrorism and the fact that a supermajority of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi, the House of Saud is the single greatest contributor to Islamic terrorism as they are the main advocates for Wahhabism--the branch of Islam that does actually base things like slavery, war, and self-martyrdom/suicide bombing in appeals to the Islamic faith.

The reason the elites in the West turn a blind eye to this is the House of Saud hasn't exactly been shy about throwing around its petrol-based fortune within the economy of its "allies."

Well yeah. Carter and Reagan were never made to answer for their support and funding of bin Laden, either.

I think Obama is going to stop by to blow the successor.

Hey, your fantasies are okay under our liberal American freedoms, you know. :D

I mean, it's apparent you didn't have a problem with the president you voted for kissing the predecessor, so...

In 'Murica, there are only two Kings: Elvis and Richard Petty. Vetteman ain't no Murican!

King Abdullah was but one of 45 sons of King Abdulaziz ibn Saud. You have zero knowledge that it was him who financed terrorism, none. Anyone of those 44 Princes or their families could be involved in that financing.

He was the king and the head of the patriarchy and controlled where money was spent. Things don't get done in places like that without the guy at the top knowing about it.

Besides, there have been articles outlining the links between the House of Saud, in general, and their ties to terrorism, including their relationship with the Bin Ladens.
