The New Congress

Those include Democrat amendments. Reid shut down the Senate in order to protect the Fraud.

Okay.

Can you...list the amendments, then? To see what he was "protecting" Obama from? And to help readers out there in realityland to understand your latest boner?

What do you mean by "amendments"? Constitutional amendments, or amendments to bills?

He's being deliberately vague about this, or he'd have posted a full-on wall of sheet music.

We know that this new congress did something, though. They did something more than what was done last year.

I saw that they voted to agree that climate change was real and not a hoax (But only because they were trying to bait and switch Democrats into backing the Keystone XL pipeline).

But he's being deliberately vague for a reason. Sure they VOTED on Democratic amendments, and passed how many of them exactly?

One of the more telling rejected Amendments?

On the Motion to Table S.Amdt. 17: Motion to Table Franken Amdt. No. 17; To require the use of iron, steel, and manufactured goods produced in the United States in the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline and facilities.

Agreed to table.

American steel isn't good enough?

Another?

On the Motion to Table S.Amdt. 13: Motion to Table Markey Amdt. No. 13; To ensure that oil transported through the Keystone XL pipeline into the United States is used to reduce United States dependence on Middle Eastern oil.

Agreed to table..

Hmmm..

Now here's a good one..

On the Amendment S.Amdt. 69: Durbin Amdt. No. 69; To ensure that the storage and transportation of petroleum coke is regulated in a manner that ensures the protection of public and ecological health.

Rejected.

All of these, by the way, were proposed amendments to the Keystone XL bill.

Maybe Vette can clue us in on exactly which Democratic amendments were allowed to bills other than the Senate agreeing that Global Warming is not a hoax.

He has no idea. He read the words on one of his wackadoodle web sites and ran with it.

Agreed. Wow, they held a bunch of roll call votes, rejected anything substantive and only agreed that Global Warming was not a hoax in order to draw Democratic support (After they rejected the amendment TWICE when submitted by Democrats)

They're proud of that?

Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe got to vote that there is biblical evidence of global warming not caused by humans.

I guess that is what passes as progress for the new Congress.

Next they will vote that rape it is not rape unless reported to law enforcement.

And it means that there is an effort to get something actually done. Wouldn't need amendments if it was just railroad stuff that the committees put together through.

It is a positive sign.

I would need to see particulars.

Like..is it the right and the hard right arguing amongst themselves or is there legit give and take with Democrats on board and hammering out workable positions.

For all kinds of reasons, symbolism for one, something needs to be passed and signed.

I don't even care if it is something that makes Obama look presidential.

Yeah, requiring a private company to buy poor quality, high priced steel is a bad idea.

The American Steel industry is so bad it is cheaper to ship scrap from the rust belt to the coast, load it on freighters, ship it to Japan which has plenty high labor rates themselves, melt it with energy japan has to import, roll it, stack it load it on a freighter and ship it back to the rust belt.

They spent too much on labor and not enough on modernizing production. Steel will probably never come back in the US.

Congratulations to the ineffectual republican congress for attempting to celebrate the anniversary of Roe v Wade with an unconstitutional 20 week abortion ban

it was set for tonight ( last night, whenever you are rwading this) and the GOP folded like a house of cards

the reason why they dropped it like a hot potatoe is because those evil women in both the GOP and the Dems couldnt help but notice that there clauses about rape victims not being allowed to get abortions if they did not report it to the police

but kudos to them for finding a new way to screw women over with the " No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act".. something that would ban abortion for millions of Americans... essentially adding strength to the Hyde Ammendment

.... trying to redefine rape.. and making abortion unavailable

yup, this Repub congress is a real fucking treat

Just a cursory glance at the roll call votes and their outcomes shows little or nothing in the give and take department. Nearly without fail every suggested Democratic amendment was rejected out of hand or tabled. The one democratic amendment that did pass was rejected twice, then finally passed after the Democrats just gave up and called for an amendment stating that global warming was real and not a hoax.

You can see the particulars at senate.gov, there is an entire page of roll call votes for 2015. The vast majority an attempt to ram through Keystone XL so that the President can veto it. This isn't progress, it's business as usual.

Yet another Vette-fail thread that didn't turn out quite they way he hoped.

One would thing that said poster might just research his little RW one-liners before spewing them as gospel after so many embarrassing failures.

How was it Einstein defined insanity again?

Funny, the fails he immediately runs away from and the ones he chooses to attempt defending as his ad hoc Alamo.

The ignorance of the right is ghastly deplorable.

I've never ran from you panty toting pussies. I'm just moving back and forth between my garage and the house. I'm building a birdhouse so you'll have a place to live.

Then that better be a damn good birdhouse, because according to your posts in this thread, you've been "moving back and forth" in your garage since Thursday night.
