I don't believe he has ever compromised with the GOP. He certainly didn't during the first two years of his term in office. Now that the GOP controls both houses of Congress, Obama is trying to legislate by fiat and he is not even asking for the consent of the Senate in foreign matters, as is required by the Constitution.

That was more of a compromise with his own party. Although The Big O wanted the public option, he never would have gotten enough Dem votes to ram it through over the GOP opposition.
