Del. Joseph D. Morrissey on Tuesday won a special election to keep his seat in the 74th House of Delegates district, making him the first jailed lawmaker in modern Virginia history to win reelection.

On the eve of the General Assembly session, Speaker of the House William J. Howell, R-Stafford and House Democratic leaders said they still find Morrissey's conduct unacceptable and will explore all options to oust him from the legislature.

The lawmaker was sentenced in December to six months in jail after entering an Alford plea to a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was allowed to campaign at daytime under a work release order, but had to report back to jail by 8 p.m. Tuesday, said Henrico County Sheriff Mike Wade.

“This is a victory for the ages,” said Stephen J. Farnsworth, a professor for political science at the University of Mary Washington.

I will never, ever, for any reason, underestimate the st00pidity of voters, here or anywhere. This sumbitch fucked his underaged employee and Alforded about it.

What a bunch of fucking Kool-Aid drinkers!!!

It's official - I'll never vote again, for anything. Not my circus, not my monkeys.

Better to be a Democrat caught with a dead prostitute than a Republican tapping your foot.

Everyone needs one very good friend.

You know, the kind who helps hide bodies.

A truly great friend owns a track, trailer and backhoe.

The bestest owns thousands of acres also . . . posted.

During "the troubles" I owned only an acre, but it did have an eight-feet-deep burn pit on it. Probably would not have taken me more than about two hours to sluff the pile of dirt back in the hole and park a car on top.

On the other hand, access to thousand foot high stockpiles with acid leach ponds at the bottom presents some interesting possibilities.

...not that I spent a lot of time considering options or anything.

The very concept of voting is to provide you and people who think like you the ability to restrain the stoopidity of other voters and stoopid legislators who pass stoopid laws like the one you're railing against.

Turning your back on that mechanism only facilitates rather than inhibits the stoopidity of the opposition.

What could be more stoopid than that?

The opposition though, is indoctrinating, breeding and importing stoopid at an alarming rate. I can understand his exasperation.

The very idea that this can somehow be "fixed" seems to be a laughable one. This guy has been scum since day one, yet he keeps a job. Now, he's re-elected as a convicted ****, kinda like Barry was re-elected as a crackhead. In both cases, I fail to see the rationale behind it, yet each person who voted somehow made a conscious decision to move his-or-her hand to make it happen, after having hauled themselves to their precinct, after having figured out how to register to vote.

Insanity is ding the same damn shit over and over, yet expecting different results.

And it is still not legal to put a bullet into the head of each person whose thinking it would improve. I offer numerous GB posters as evidence.

What would you like to wager that each Morrissey voter this time voted for Our Illustrious President for re-election also? I wonder . . . .

A local mall closed, finally, after numerous attempts to revive it from life support. It was toast 20 years ago.

They're putting in a WalMart there.

Which will kill the Kmart across the skreet.

At least it'll be a super WalMart . . . .

Now, now, calm down. At least he's not a racist (apparently):

See what I'm talking about?

Me too! I just can't endorse his strategy.

I figure voting is necessary. It is one's license to bitch. If your guy doesn't get in, you have every right to bitch at the guy messing things up, if your guy gets in, you have a right (and a duty) to point out to him that he isn't doing what you elected him to do.

Kmart/Sears has been going a great job of suicide for some time now...

Amazon/[insert new idea here] will eventually kill the Walmart the same way Kmart helped do in the strip mall and the Interstate did to kill Main Street.

Voting works great on the local level where you can grab the SOB by the collar at 3AM in the Walmart and let him know what you think. Voting for someone who then gets to go live in Forbidden City, not so much...

;) ;)
