I was flipping through the TV channels on Sunday morning, and I stopped clicking when I heard an old white man in a suit, say this statement-
"Democracy does not protect you from being offended."
I saw a video clip of a group of people from the Westboro church shouting awful, horrible things.
I saw people who lived in the community, who shouted back at the Westboro church clan.
I saw members of the KKK, protected by a group of police, shouting racist statements.
I saw members of the community shouting back at the KKK.
I saw people marching in peaceful protest against racism.
I heard people shouting racist insults at the protesters.
I heard men shouting homophobic insults and threats at same sex couples.
I saw a parade, with floats and marchers, celebrating the LGBT community.
I watched women march for their rights, as members of American society.
I saw men shout degrading insults at the women who are seeking equality.
I watched the evening TV news, and heard about the murders of satirists in Paris.
I read about the rally in Boston, to express solidarity with people who disagree mightily with the people who committed murders at Charlie Hebdo.
Today! #JeSuisCharlie rally, Boston Common (Parkman Bandstand), noon.
I read about the firebombing attack on a German newspaper, and bomb threats to a Belgian newspaper, for re- printing cartoons that protested the deaths of satirists in Paris, and the threats to freedom of expression.
