Whenever entering the home of a senior citizen, do you ever notice that old
paper/library smell?

That odor is pungently present in the residence of literally every single 70/80/90+ year old person I've ever known.

Apparently scientists have confirmed the existence of "that old person smell."

It smells like an old library full of old books and decaying paper.

I think that we can actually sense the beginning of cellular decay.

It makes sense. Newborns are full of T-cells and the are growing, vibrant and healthy and have a distinct, newborn smell.

This thread is going places. I can almost smell it in the air.

Grab a 100-200 year old book full of mold and yellowing paper and smell it.

That's what it's like.

I figure I am 10...maybe 20 years at the very outside away from that smell. I best be looking at stronger cologne than CK1 if I am going to still be gaming 20 and 30 somethings at 60 and 70.

I happen to like ancient libraries. Nothing better than cracking a book that has not been cracked open in decades.

I suspect that 20 and 30 somethings say that about the creaks in my joints.

That itch you can't scratch...

and other weird sentences starting with the word "that."

The dying have a distinct odour that we healthcare workers combat by placing bowls of charcoal in their rooms, for the benefit of the visitors.

At 55 I am hoping I'm FAR away from that smell.

query...CK1 should handle it. :)

I have a simple explanation:

Old people feel the cold more than they were younger. The bodies don't adapt well to temperature changes. So they heat their houses to a higher temperature than when they were younger, and close windows/doors to prevent drafts.

Therefore there is less ventilation and stale air.
