Oh... And if you need another chuckle, I can try to paint the scene at my house this morning when all 7 smoke detectors went off at the same time. Two words - pure pandemonium....

My son had been changing when it started, and came flying down stairs in just his underwear. I was on my way upstairs to get changed myself and ended up running back downstairs trying to figure out what was happening.

No smoke, no fire... In basement... Nothing on first level... Son still running around in underwear with his hands over his ears yelling at me to stop them (has a sensitivity to loud noises unfortunately). Me telling him to get clothes on so we can go outside if there's really something happening.

Running upstairs... Still no smoke or fire, but no sign of my daughter. Running into her room to find it empty and realize she's in the bathroom. Five of the seven detectors are upstairs... It is DEAFENING... I fling open the bathroom door to see her dancing in the bathroom with her new headphones on, totally ignorant of the alarms going off.

Still not finding anything, I have to lug the stepladder out and pull the batteries from all of the detectors. And I may or may not have had to stand on tiptoes for some of them.

Hubby finally came home after about 15 minutes of blessed silence... Except it was freezing cuz I had the door open as we don't have carbon monoxide detectors and I wasn't sure if my headache was caused by that or just the added stress of the earlier chaos.

But I learned something today... Apparently most builder grade smoke detectors only ~7 years, and we've been in the house for almost 14. So, we spent the day replacing detectors...

Angel, Not only did I watch the Frozen parody, I found myself going down the youtube wormhole of other parody videos from the same traffic guy.... his Major Tom is also really good.

I still need to do that...

I'd recommend watch the Frozen parody that I posted last night, but that might not work if you're super serious. :(

I decided to shake it off with some Monty Python and the Funniest Joke in the World

Don't think Frozen is a requirement in order to appreciate the parody, but there are a couple of things that might go over your head. But it always makes me smile...

Sooner or later I'm going to see that movie.

I'm watching Arrow and 100 on Netflix. I havent looked to see if Arrow is on Hulu yet, but I'm hoping. So far I'm really liking it. 100 is really good too if you haven't sen it yet.

I tried 100 before but couldn't get into it.

Evenin veroe

Hey Glad.

Hi Angel. Good evening everyone. I thought I would poke my head in for a few minutes before heading off to bed.

Hugs maddy "Whisper my way, I'd love to discuss roleplays with you if you'd like to write with me."

Nothing that isn't stalled at the moment veroe. Someone just pmed me and I might do something with angel and now if Maddy is willing, I should be doing ok.

Waves.... "Hey Maddy!"

Chuckling.... "Glad... I'd write with you, but well..... there's things and such... and I have this thing I need to do and well.... I love you like a brother and I don't do incest stories..... whew.... :D

Oh that's terrific news. I'm glad for you, Glad.:D

Oops, sorry... Didn't see you pop in, missmaddy...

Am in a bit of a captains fog at the moment and struggling to get a very overdue post done.

If I wrote as a woman often enough I'd want to write with you veroe, you're very good.

I feel that way about writing with Vail. I like her unique voice, unfortunately we have incompatible needs in a SRP.

I'm not that good. I have areas where I need to improve on. Like my speed predominantly. Honestly some of the rest of you really blow me out of the water there.

Don't sell yourself short Veroe.... Speed is one thing... quality is another. Though there are some who can do both, and I've been lucky to write with some of them. Nonetheless, quality bests speed every day.

Well I can fire off a fast post, I could probably even write 4 in the time it takes you to write 1, however speed does not equal quality lol. yours are always well written.

I actually will never forget when you recognized one of my threads in your thread and writer appreciation thread I was so honored, I'm like holy cow someone that good thinks something I wrote is good? haha

This probably isn't the right forum to ask, but what are the rules for how often you need to post in RP? From what I can see it seems to be all over the map. And when do you know it's time to pull the plug? What if you lose interest - how do you extricate yourself? So may questions... I sound like someone talking to her girlfriend about what it's going to be like the first time!

all good questions.

posting rate is dependent on comfort level, availability and how many stories you have. decide on your posting rate and put it in your profile. For example mine is probably something like can check posts daily, and depending on thread load and post length required could respond almost every day, however I've had periods and stories where in I posted once a week, and some that got a post once a month. That's something you can talk to your partner about. It is customary to let your partner know if you'll be away for some time and can't post.

as to when is it done. you will know. However good writers that you don't want to lose as partners would much prefer you pm them and let them know you aren't feeling the thread and would like to discontinue it. Most of us would rather start something different with you than just have you stop replying and have no idea why the thread died. Also its ok to talk to your partner about how the thread is going, places you'd like to see it go, things you dislike etc. think it like you would a sex life. if someone isn't getting you off in rl, you talk to them and are like "Hey, you need to do this for me."

but often less problems occur since at least for me since srp profiles came about before them I rarely talked about some of those things like writing style and ended up with people I wasn't as compatable with.

sometimes its the story that isn't doing it for you, but sometimes its the writing partnership that isn't doing it for you. the first is much harder to talk to the other person about... the latter is hard to bring up without offending.

does any of that help?

Maddy, it's simpler than it looks. It all boils down to communicating with your co-writer. It's a partnership. If they know you're busy, 99% of writers will be understanding and wait if you have a RW thing pop up, the 1% who don't... well you know the answer to that.

The best RP's I've had all involved lot's of communication with my co-writers, personally, jokingly and story wise. I've never seen any hard and fast rules about when to quit a thread. My philosophy is simple, it's alive or in hiatus until my co writer tells me otherwise. I have threads that get posts 1 or 2 times a month, and I love them. I also have threads that post as fast as I can type.

That's the beauty, it's what you and your co-writer want it to be.

UPDATE: And what Glad said.

I try to tell myself that. If I make my cowriters wait that long I tell myself to do my best on them.

And that was why I made my appreciation thread. Too many don't try to do their best because they don't see how amazing they are. All they see is their own faults. Sometimes some honest praise from strangers can do wonders.

Thanks for reminding about that Glad, HF. I appreciate it.:)

''Glad I can shift into human form...just to even the odds. Though it won't save you from defeat.'' Grins wolfishly cracking his knuckles loudly.

''Hey Maddy...how're you doing?''

Thanks Glad and HF. You advice makes so much sense. I just made my first post today and it took me much longer to compose than I thought it would... I wanted to get it just right. That got me thinking about how much time I would have to do it right. Communications... duh... of course. And that's what I do for a living!

You're welcome sir. *doffing my cap to you*

See, I typed faster than hf, but he said it better. lol

That's sexy, I love women that are good with words ;)

and don't get hung up on making it perfect. I know some that try so hard for perfection that they actually don't enjoy writing anymore. I try to take care but I don't take care with my posts as much as some because I have tried to find that delicate balance between composing something my partner and others will want to read, and something that is fun for me. If you cand what that balance is for you you'll be much happier. I have some threads that I will not accept nothing less than my best on. like the one currently in my siggy before it died. but so many others are a little different where in I am more forgiving to myself because they are just fun to write they aren't designed to be masterpieces.
