I love this site! I've seen so many items that take me back. I love reminders of my earlier years.

It's been about 6 months since I've bought anything from there. Either I'm getting poorer, or the prices are getting higher.

Any other collector's on here?

What are your earlier years?

I have problems finding vacuum tubes.

Hey 4est! I have vacuum tubes! Tons of them! My dad retired from a company long ago and dumped several boxes of old, but new tubes in our warehouse. He's told me to get rid of them.

What exactly do you need? I'll send you anything you need if I have them.

Ok...I have a feeling this was a joke now. Pardon my enthusiasm and the fact this went right over my head....but I really do have vacuum tubes.

*blush*

The prices are getting higher, as with all flash sites. Flash sites started in 2008 after the financial implosion. Manufacturers across the board were sitting on excess inventory; these sites were a way to move that inventory at a price higher than liquidation. To give a quick breakdown, a typical $100 suggested retail price is sold to your local independent store for $50. It is sold to large chains at $30 -$40 depending upon the channel. At liquidation it is sold at $10 or even less. Flash sites came in and bought at $20-25 in 2008. Every year those discounts were rolled back. Now they pretty much pay the same price as a large chain. They take a much smaller margin since they no longer hold inventory. Also manufacturers hate selling to them because the paperwork is a fucking nightmare and you don't end up with numbers that justify the work.

Hmmm... it looks like I didn't answer your question and instead gave you a rather nerdy answer. I am on the OKL shit list, burned a bridge and gave nary a fuck.

I tend to use Joss and Main more. Their prices are better than OKL.

Their prices are better because they are owned by Wayfair. Wayfair is a huge drop shipper, powers listings on sties like sears.com, walmart.com etc Their purcahsing power is far larger than OKL

Oh yes, Mona! I've "Joss'ed" also! I mostly find they lean towards clothing. It's been a while since I've been on their site, but I have bought from them before.

I should check them out again. Maybe they've moved more into home decor.

Thanks for reminding me of them!

Damn, you've done your homework! I'm glad I found them back when they started. Found and bought some really neat stuff back then.

Funny, your "burning a bridge" comment. Last year, I bought a gorgeous vintage smokey glass cluster of grapes. When they arrived, three of the grapes were broken.

They didn't want me to send them back, however I suddenly found myself OFF their daily email list. Surprises me because I had spent a LOT of money with them and never jerked them around.

I still have the grapes in a display case...I just turned them around so the broken ones don't show.

Ah well, it is what it is.

*chuckle*

Sorry for pulling your leg...

Now, don't you feel bad for pulling the leg of an honest, good-hearted person who would have been willing to dig through dusty boxes to find what you needed and send them to you for free?

I'm seriously that way. yeah.

You see, that is where we are cross.

I was raised by Quakers and free is a sin. The devil always has a price tag...

Can we bear it?

No homework, that's all a part of what I do for a living (wholesale distribution).

How about we just wrestle in my teepee and settle it. You goof.

I remember once, long ago, amazed at your ability to trip people up so bad they landed on their heads regarding the art of selling a story...or anything else for that matter; whatever your pleasure. You're antics were an ARTFORM to me.

I believe I likened you to Lucy with the football and Charlie Brown...and how you pulled it off every time...over and over again.

I posted that "I want this bitch to work for me"! Well...I stand by my words. Unfortunately, I'm not in biz anymore.

LadyF, you were always thinking two steps ahead of everyone else. I always liked that. :) I hope you haven't changed a bit.

Haha that's right, I DO remember you saying I was like Lucy with a football! I forgot the context. That's pretty funny.

ETA: Found it!

My last word in this thread: I don't believe in kicking somebody when they are down.

However, if Ladyfunk is Lucy with the football and all of us at Lit are Charlie Brown...and this has happened over and over and over again.

This is not a character flaw...this is an ART.

And I soooo want to hire that bitch. :)

I forgot about my trolling techniques from back in the day. I just reread that whole thread and it is just as funny to me today as it was back then.

You were quite the firecracker back then, for sure. However, you banged the truth into people. I never thought of you as a troll.

I haven't yet gone back to read that thread.

We have been on this site for almost 10 years.

I have mellowed out a bit I think.

I think so...very much so.

I've always flown pretty much under the radar here. Most don't remember me even after a couple of years hiatus...and that's ok with me! :)

Glad to see you back, LadyF. I always enjoyed you.
