It might be a long-shot, but I'm wondering if anyone has a 100% latex mattress.

If you do, how long have you had it?

Have you been happy with it, or regretted your purchase?

Is sex any different than on an innerspring or memory foam mattress?

I slept on a latex mattress for a few months.
I have never sweated so much in my whole life!
Went back to an innerspring with a topper asap.

Sex on firmer mattresses is different. I only sleep on non spring mattress because I fall off them ;) I grew up on latex mattresses and they lasted a long time.

Right now I sleep on a futon with HR Foam core and a 3 inch memory foam topper. It is old and should be replaced soon. It's about 14 yrs old.

I've been told that sex on a memory foam mattress is not so good.

Well, we've ruled out innerspring-anything because I have musculoskeletal issues, we've had bad luck with them after a couple of years in the past and unbiased review sites like sleeplikethedead say they're probably not what we're looking for in a mattress that we'll be happy with beyond a 2-3 years.

We have an 8-year-old Novaform memory foam currently, and it developed body depressions a few years in, even though we've rotated it every six months. We did try a bunch of newer memory foam mattresses recently while shopping, and I've come to the conclusion that the 'sink factor' on even the firm models isn't right for my body.

So, those experiences have led us to look at 100% latex mattresses. The ones we've tried have been great, but they're also expensive, and all of the info on Dunlop vs. Talalay latex seems to be contradictory. My ideal would be a 6" firm latex core/base layer with a 3" layer or two of medium/softer latex on top, not glued together (so we can switch the 3" layers around and won't have to replace the core when the top layer(s) eventually break down in 10 or 20 years). And then a cotton, bamboo, wool, etc., zippered case around the whole thing to minimize the heat issue (I'm not opposed to getting a 'cooling' cover or topper as well, if it still sleeps too hot for my husband). Finding that sort of configuration at a reasonable price has been a bitch.

I've found it to be better than sex on an innerspring, by far, at least when I'm on top or in another position that creates major pressure points. But I also have a problematic left knee, so the extra cushioning is good in that regard.

I know it's a little more challenging for my husband when he's on top because his supporting hands/arms sink into the mattress more than they do with an innerspring (we stay in hotels a lot in the summer, so we have a pretty good comparison).

There are a gazillion different formulations and combinations of memory foam; some types are definitely firmer, cooler, and much better than others for sex.
