We see what started as peaceful protest, although misguided, has turned into a cult of hate. Two more peace officers have been gunned down, and more will come as this psychosis continues to decay society. Its mob rule, with pitch forks and torches at the ready.

They are told by the Race Mongers that the poor quality of their lives are not a result of there own failures, but because "The System" conspires to keep them down. So they burn, kill, and disrupt society because of this mass sociological illness where personal failures are projected onto some sort of nebulous oppressor.

Did you see all the flowers, teddy bears and signs of love placed where Micheal Brown died? It's really perverted, this distorted view of a criminal and bully, Michael Brown, as some sort of Gandhi-like figure, it's really distressing.

I think the Liberal Mainstream Press has even backed away from this. I don't see them stoking the race fires so much anymore. Even they don't want to be associated with killers and rioters.

It is sad how we rid ourself of past hate and ignorance (The Clan, Nazis and the like) only to have it pop up again with a new face.

It looks like miles isn't the only idiot.

This was an armed robbery attempt. Not the first in NYC and certainly not the last.

Only an idiot would try to link this to the protests, like they did the shootings of Officers Liu and Ramos by a mentally unstable man who had earlier gut-shot his ex-girlfriend.

The clan is a Scottish thing?

Yes, CLAN is a Scottish thing. I'm a GRANT and we hate CAMPBELLS. I once got invited home to dinner by a McDuffie I had never laid eyes on...my grandmother was a McDuffie and that was enough for the stranger. Indians have the same kinship...us Cherokees hate Creeks and Semenholes.

Scots-Irish are Scots who inhabit Northern Ireland NOT knuckle walking Micks.

To say that the person who shot Officers Liu and Ramos had nothing to do with the protests is ridiculous.

To try to blame the Mayor or the protesters for the actions of a mentally disturbed career criminal is idiotic. He could just as easily been set off by watching "Colors".

You can't act as if the motivations of a mad person as if they were sane.

I didn't blame the mayor so there's no need for stupid straw man arguments.

His words show he was influenced by the protestors. There is a difference between "linking" and "blaming." One I thought you would be intelligent enough to see.

By all means, then, tell us the difference between "linking" and "blaming"!

Yeah I noticed him attempting to slide that argument in in another thread and deemed it not worthy of response.

He is ever vigilant in anti-blaming. Nothing anyone on "his side" ever does can be held to account. Not a camel's nose under the tent. Gabby Gifford is clearly Sarah Palin's fault, but no link whatsoever between this "isolated madman" and the actual calls for actual assassination.

A link implies a connection between two things. Blame is the act of holding someone or something else responsible.

Anything else I can answer for you vette?

Wait. I want to make sure I get the logic here.

Systematic oppression of minorities via longer sentences, higher arrest rates, more physical altercations, higher police brutality rates, etc = isolated incidents.

A guy who stabs his lover to death, then later kills some cops, proven to be mentally unstable- which makes a lot of us mentally unstable people look bad, btw. Most of us don't go around killing people. We just take our meds and get on with our lives. = connected series of events

Also, memorial for a dead person = bad

Is that about right?

So let me get this straight, when a murderer says "They Take 1 Of Ours . . . Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,” and then executes two cops you DON'T see a connection?

Seriously?

I believe he might see a connection, since he has intense mental issues that cause him to become murderous. But do I think a SANE person, or a logical person would see a connection? Of course not. Because that is, quite literally, insane. A therapist talking to this man would tell him that she believes HE believes it, but it doesn't mesh with reality, and then give him the medication so he wouldn't make connective leaps when none exist.

Cases like this, and again, I haven't seen anyone making that type of insane connection outside of this site, have nothing to do with the police brutality issue and EVERYTHING to do with mental health issues. We have an epidemic of mental health problems in this country, and we still have a stigma attached. Mental illness is the ONLY type of illness, that I know of, that you can be arrested for having. I have addictive personality disorder. Depending on how this manifests, I can get arrested for it. Some people have antisocial personality disorder, or disassociative disorder, which I believe is what this man was afflicted with. Had he been able to receive treatment, these murders would not have happened. But our society wants to criminalize mental health rather than treating it. I wrote on this at length in the post about being a caregiver to an aging grandparent. That is the social issue that I've seen associated with this case, and that is one that we can actually solve.

Current insurance for personality disorders will only cover 5 treatments. You need around 5 YEARS of treatment to fix that. That's ridiculous. If you have cancer, you get to go until it's cured. If you have depression, or dissasociative disorder, you get five treatments. Both can be fatal. It's fucked up. Trying to take the focus of this tragedy off what it actually is, a call to arms against the way the mentally ill are treated in this country, and trying to make the same false connective lengths that the patient himself made, is not only unethical, it's directly contributing to the problem.

There is a connection as his words indicate. I think we have very different understandings of what sanity and insanity mean.

We must, because I have no idea what you think it is. Sanity and Insanity are legal, not medical terms, and legally, this was an act of insanity. Medically it was an untreated disorder indicative of a pattern of untreated disorders that are deeply engrained in our society and need to change. Either way the trigger to the episode was to do with his girlfriend. The police responded and his mind created a link to justify the homicide, because that happens when you're disassociated from reality. It doesn't have anything to do with the actual world around you.

How do you know that he was insane? On what basis are you making that determination?

Somebody told me Americans always need an enemy.

As much as I defeat hate and violence, I think it's not appearing out of the blue. No justification, just explanation.
