I received a torch for Christmas. What can I use it on? Give me ideas!
This will be my favorite thread ever if you add pics of you torching stuff.
Sugar crust on everything, mofo! Even soups. Stews. Pork chops with a sticky apple glaze that's been bruleed. Baked Alaska!
I have a solder iron already.
I so will! I like the pork chops idea. I torched some pound cake for our fondue dessert the other day.

I would so eat that.
How about candied yams? Add the marshmallows at the end and torch 'em. Or better yet, just torch marshmallows for instant s'mores.
Also, what about a sugar crust on peach cobbler? Make that for Lori.
Chicken skin flamed and crumbled/flaked into a good chicken soup adds a lovely, savoury richness. Also, try verbena creme brulee - the lemon taste cuts through the richness without being too sweet, I think.
Toasted meringue peaks.
The torch is a potential crutch that should be used sparingly. There's a time and place.

She wouldn't be the first to ignore my expert advice.
Look, if I can play with fire and have people eat it, I'll torch just about anything.
