Naughtyinsilk has a point: This isn't a personal ad per se but a discussion related to personal ads, so it would be more appropriate for the Playground.

But I think the bigger problem is that it's seldom possible to offer conclusive proof that someone online is not what they claim to be. I've met a few people on Lit who I've concluded were guys, but I'd need a very pressing reason to accuse them in public with no concrete evidence.

For what it's worth, I understand the frustration of dealing with scammers perfectly and I'm sympathetic to your idea. It's just that there's seldom any way to do it without making accusations that can't be proven.

Every once in awhile someone will post an ad that sounds too good to be true and get called on it, but even there, you have to be careful. As Sigmund Freud said, "Sometimes a shy 19-year-old girl is just a shy 19-year-old girl".
