Low level crime OK in NYC now.

I wonder if Ishmael will criticize the NYPD for "selectively enforcing laws" like he did President Obama?

Actually I was just discussing this with my sister who also lives in NYC. We absolutely have seen a slow down in Bed Stuy anyway, the location of the shooting. It is in my precinct; my sister's precinct is the next one over. (Both have had a lot of threats within the last week.)

Be safe.

I've been stranded in the combat zone
I walked through Bedford Stuy alone
Even rode my motorcycle in the rain
And you told me not to drive
But I made it home alive
So you said that only proves that I'm insane
You may be right

Bed stuy is riddled with guys who look like this, who can afford to pay $1350.00 for a tiny 1 bedroom

I here the 3-Card Monte guys are back in Times Square.

Soon to be followed by the window washers I suppose.

It looks like the city is on it's way to re-live the good ole' pre-Giuliani days along with that well deserved reputation.

I love this quote by the Mayor, "I’m disappointed in the issuance of a press release announcing the meeting, which now raises concerns of sincerity." Well Mr. Mayor, those numbers look pretty sincere to me. You fucked it up, what are you going to do to fix it? Of course he went on to talk about 'talking' through the problems, but that means in private as opposed to your very public remarks that brought this crisis down on your head.

It's going to be very interesting watching this play its way out.

Apparently things have changed in Bed Stuy since the 80's

Oh hell yes.

This coffee shop is 1 short block away from the projects where the two cops were shot:

A long block away is this restaurant/bar called Beast of Bourbon (I fucked the lead singer/guitarist of a country band out of this place... who oddly enough used to bartend at a place where Dan used to bartend!)

The police slow down does not affect me at all. The white hipsters though...

The world has hipsters to spare. It will be fine in the end.

They are the ones who were inciting riots at the various protests. They are the ones who physically assaulted police on the bridge. They are the ones who incited a deranged lunatic into murdering cops.

Gives them something to talk about over their $10 latte's. (If you can get one for $10 up there.) They can talk about the plight of the oppressed to the point that they believe that they are oppressed to.

Here is footage of the actual melee in which two lieutenants were given a beat down... by a crowd of white hipsters. This was the day before the shooting in Bed Stuy. I don't see any black people in this video.

From the link:
"It has helped contribute to a nose dive in low-level policing, with overall arrests down 66 percent for the week starting Dec. 22 compared with the same period in 2013, stats show."

I love this quote. Last year, Stop and Frisk also altered arrest rates. In 2013 almost 200,000 people were frisked, and only 10% of them were actually guilty.

In the first 9 months of 2014 (before this incident) almost 40K were stopped.

So it's fair to say that police activity was already declining.

Of course people who don't live in NYC will read anything about NYC and believe it. Everyone knows the NY Post is a paper for idiots; they go up to the 8-yr-old reading level. Cops are not afraid for their lives, how ridiculous is this article. They're no more afraid than before. No one has ever liked cops; they're trying to exacerbate things.

Not to mention I walk through here everyday, in Brooklyn mainly, and feel no difference. The only difference I feel is gentrification, whiich will demand more cops and security presence because the white out-of-towners will be all scared.

Yes, but as good college-indoctrinated liberals they know what is best for the black community. #hipstersforjustice

Oh please query. Tell me you're being sarcastic.

Hipsters are liberals because they think it's cool. Saying they are beating cops' asses for black people is negating the fact that white people and youth have their own issues they'd be upset about. "So let's beat up cops so someone can Youtube it and gain us more followers on our little Twitter accounts." That's hipster's only mission. Keep up with the times, query. Also look at the Wall Street Protest. Nothing but white hipsters. Does anyone know how it started? I don't. Just a riot that swelled during the Obama Administration full of young pissed off young white faces. Young white people were excited for Obama's election not because of black people either; but because there are poor angry white people too query.

No, it was because they were self indulgent and mad that mommy and daddy were threatening to cut them off, and Obama promised to forgive student loans, and get them hip, high paying jobs in the "green energy economy" which sounded ultra-keen.

We'll... they also were duped into thinking that a college degree automatically = a better life.

My favorite (know defunct) blogger on the subject. It's along read but I like his writing style:

Q-Bert doubled up on the dumb on this thread. My god.

78.3% of your posts consist of you calling someone stupid while offering nothing to explain what it is you disagree with.

Announcing who the resident "dummies" are doesn't make you appear as smart as you seem to think it does.

And because you're on ignore, he totally read this whole post.

Yes. And the entitled little brats who moved to the cool cities for college (and because mommy and daddy can afford the rent for them) feel they have every reason to be upset if they don't get what Obama the Messiah promised them. Sure they helped elect the guy, but not for "the black community." Are you serious? So of course incite a huge Wall St protest under Obama's nose, like the corruption on Wall St is his fault.

I hope what comes to pass is the NYPD making modern art masterpieces of Negro and LIB skulls.
