Lower Oil Prices Are a Free-Market Victory

Prices will shake out the bit players, but not the Persians or the Russians.

It will hurt companies actually trying to emerge in free markets, but it will not hurt nationally subsidized industries in the long-run, they're...,

;) ;)

TOO BIG TO FAIL.

The net energy importer's will do OK.

Venezuela is fucked. They need $80+/bbl pricing to break even. But that's what you get when you have 16 good socialists doing the job that 1 man does in the private sector. :D

Yes, they are in a bind of their own making, but sadly, they are in no way inclined to freedom and full humanhood, preferring to cast about for another set of leaders who can actually deliver on the promise of these leaders so that they can continue to be less than human, Aristotle's men born to be slaves. They will blame us for all of their problems; it cannot be their fault, they imagine a society egalitarian, so...,

Meanwhile, back on reality-based Planet Earth, AJ's former man-crush Putin is playing a very risky shell game with the Russian ruble. He is basically betting the entire Russian economy on the prospect of the oil price downturn easing with three to four months.

But that's not a "shakeout", nossir.

It really is too bad, Venezuela is a truly beautiful country. But like virtually all of the rest of the Latin nations they jump back and forth between Oligarchical Socialism and a form of Oligarchical Capitalism both of them based on the Patron (Latin) system in the end. They just can't seem to help themselves.

If only they had white men still telling them what to do, right?

I see that sean is trolling his ass off again uttering his ignorant bull shit.

The fact is that the vast majority of those Latin nations are ruled by 'whites.' They are of hereditary Spanish or Portuguese decent. Both of which are racially classified as Caucasian.

Further, effective governance has little to do with the color of anyone's skin. Chile is doing quite well while Argentina and Brazil are jumping right back into the abyss they spent so many years digging themselves out of. Both Brazil and Argentina have essentially all white governments.

Sean likes to pretend that everyone is a racist except himself.

LOL you still think there is a free market, ahhhh one day you will grow up and realize that's just a fantasy land and every market had a government leash/collar of some kind.

I thought Brazil was booming???

Nope, not enough white people in gov.

Did you not noticed how fucking doomed and "SKY IS FALLING!" the RW was when O got elected? The guy came with a republican HC system and even blow off his whole "I'll bring our troops home you can take that to the bank!" promise in an effort to make GOP happy.....

World still ending because nigrah in whyte haus. Just ask anyone of the RW spastic tards who are always on about how Obama is unraveling the very fabric of our time space dimension with his evil socialism.

Not so. They are in the midst of another economic crisis. How the government ends up dealing with it will determine whether they fall back into hyper-inflation or not. Based on the platform the current party in power ran on I'm betting better than even odds that they start down the hyper-inflation path once again.

Yeah, your predictions on hyper-inflation are legendary.

Yeah I read up on it....I guess they over-heated, plus the Olympics should put them over the edge

And a big tax cut.

I agree. It is a direct result of the technological innovation called fracking. I believe the Koch brothers were instrumental. But most on this site seem to be of a leftist political persuasion, there's no getting through to them. Anything ID'd by the universities and press as bad they will be against, including oil, free markets, personal responsibility, self-reliance, etc. They think the right is just a bunch of ill informed gun toting, hating, racist, polluting rubes when nothing could be further from the truth.

Not the entire right, but AJ (now known as 4est_gump) has certainly earned his Red Badge Of Ignorance, with two Oak Leaf clusters.

Your a recent arrival from the Wingnut Replacement Depot, and you're well on the way to Mouthbreather status. You do need a bit more seasoning to elevate to Shitslinger.

"Your" a longstanding defender of all things left of center. Not that I get the sense you care about, or even necessarily believe, in any of that crap.

You just view Lit as Team Left or Team Right and you set out each day to battle anyone that you perceive as being on the opposing side of "your team" in a vain attempt to garner votes for MVP status.

Mostly a function of your deep seated need to belong, to be included. Everyone has their insecurities, yours just happen to be obvious.

The Koch bro's. weren't so much involved with the technological development of 'fracking.' That was developed at Los Alamos Natiaonl Labs for an entirely different purpose, namely the production of Hot Dry Rock Geothermal Energy and the test project at Fenton Hill NM. The liked paper below gives an overview of the project.

Hot Dry Rock Geothermal Energy Development in the USA

The key section in the paper has to do with the nature of the fracturing that takes place in the rock strata, the erroneous preconceptions and the measured realities. Key sub-contractors (Schlumberger, Santa Fe International Co., Halliburton, and smaller suppliers/service providers) were intimately familiar with what was taking place at Fenton Hill and used the science to apply same to the Oil/Gas industry. The key technologies developed were guided drilling techniques (sometimes referred to as 'slant drilling, although that is a somewhat misleading term), micro-fracturing (both predictive and in application), and micro-seismic measurement technologies for reservoir mapping.

The Koch bros involvement in the Oil/Gas industry begins at the well head AFTER production has been established. Obviously they have interests in the well bore technologies but that is not their primary business focus.

This is what gives the rest of the world, Putin, Iran, Venezuela, and the Saudis, to mention a few, hope. They see how vehemently opposed our intellectual class is to fracking and how they have used fear to cause some communities to end the practice and how the movement spreads nation-wide as emblematicized by President Obama's recent agreement with China. He wants to regain our energy independence in order to be a better citizen, a better protector of our earth and as a mechanism to redistribute wealth to nations trying to reach (and even surpass) our economic standing in the world. This energy boom severely hurts those efforts because it jump-started our economy. Now, clearly (and as demonstrated by some of our lesser thinkers) now is the perfect time to raise taxes on energy because out infrastructure has clearly gone all Mad Max...
