Hey everyone, I just re-joined Lit. I thought I'd start a thread. I'm 19/F.

I remember telling a friend that I'm not attracted to black guys and they immediately asked if I was gay- cos' I myself am black (mixed race). I was just wondering if anyone else isn't attracted to their own complexion most the time? Don't get me wrong though, I love love black women, just not sexually attracted to the men usually.

I have dated a black guy though. I was surprised that I was fantasizing about him. I just find white men more attractive.

What are your thoughts with your own preferences?

the most beautiful woman ever attracted to me was black. (i am white.)
i never went out with her because she would get drunk & stand outside my dorm in college & yell for me. it was embarrassing. wish i had asked her out, though. and wish i could find her today.

I wouldn't say I'm not attracted to my race. I find all kinds of women beautiful. I (wm) have dated a few black girls, a couple of Mexican girls, some white girls, 1 Asian. What I am not attracted to is the ghetto/trailer park attitude.

Some people have a preference for blondes, brunettes or redheads.... And while I'm open to relationships and sex with any of them, I definitely have a preference for black women.

I dated a couple of black women when I was in the Navy and was surprised at how much grief they got from their African American friends for dating a nerdy white guy.

I was like that at one point. I was hell bent on getting a white guy. Until one day, I accidentally bumped into one, and the touch of his skin was soft, doughy, and fleshy like. That's not sexy at all. I like for my men to be hard, and rough, and have callouses damn near everywhere. I am slowly but surely getting really pissed by the mindset that figures only whites can be racist, an attitute very prevalent among many blacks, who in the main, are conveniently blind to their own prejudices. There's barely a racial group on earth, of which a considerable portion of them don't imagine most or all other races as inferior to their own. Get off your moral high horse, racism always has, and probably always will exist in all racial groups, yours and mine included.

I'll definitely agree there are a lot of racist people. However, they show up in all races. Your statement is complete BS - not to mention racist.

If you find out that everything isn't what you thought it be like over there, you can always come back home . I don't want to throw salt on anyone doing their thing, that's just not in me, I just hope you know what's in store. That wakeup call is real.

I feel I relate to you in that sense. While I see beautiful black, asian, latin men I just seem to be more attracted to white. There those occasions where I get off to men that aren't white, but it's not very often.

Let's please not turn this into a race issue. Though, Vicki's comment was racist. And you sure as hell don't have to be white to be racist. I agree with you also, racism is a thing of nuturing/conditioning not about genetics.

Ok, now that I've had my little rant, let me answer the question. I am white, and I am definitely more (but not exclusively) attracted to white women. I don't believe for one minute that constitutes racism, I think it is just natural for most folk to be more attracted to those who are more like themselves, both physically and culturally.
Living in South Africa, I see more than my fair share of attractive black (and Indian) women, and they sure can turn your head, but when it comes to actually having sex, I would still choose an average looking white woman over a drop dead gorgeous black one, you can crucify me for that, it's just the way it is.
Having said that, I certainly don't consider people who find those of a diiferent race to themselves more appealing to be weird. My son (adopted obviously) is black, and for whatever reason (I haven't asked him), he happens to prefer white girls (and they dig him too). I don't try steer him either way, I have even on occasion castigated him when he has (very rarely) dissed black girls. I really don't care one way or another who he eventually marries, as long as she is like minded with him, I'm sure they will be happy.

My first sexual girlfriend was mixed race. Her dad was black while her mum was Egyptian and had that almost bronze colouring.
She was amazing but her attitude utterly sucked.

I don't really have a preference in general, I can get my head turned by almost any kind of person... Be that colour or gender. Its the attitude or the personality that turns me off in general.

My faves would be Hispanic or southern Asian. I love that natural bronze tanned skin tone.
Oh... And the most mind blowing accent is Costa Rican. My wife has a friend who is Costa Rican and when I talk to her my knees turn weak.
