Some yo-yo up in New Hampshire shot himself in the leg while sitting in the Walmart parking lot. I ask you, can we take his gun away before he shoots himself again, shoots someone else, lets his kids get to the gun or loses his gun or has any other accident?

Hasn't he proven himself unworthy of the responsibility that goes with gun ownership?

If he's shooting himself, why would you want to take his gun away?

The problem appears to be self-correcting to me.

Is this the guy who put a .22 shell in his fuse box because the headlamps kept blowing the fuse?

This guy was "sitting in his car when he went to check his handgun and it discharged, hitting him in the leg". (Do guns just mysteriously discharge in your experience, anyone?)

I hope that the guy who put a .22 shell in his fuse box shot his balls off so he can't reproduce!

Why should someone be punished for an accident?

If someone falls down the stairs, do you think they should be punished?

What if they slip on the ice?

I can't even imagine what kind of punitive action you have lined up for someone who gets into an auto accident.

Reckless drivers lose their license, why not reckless gun owners?

If they commit vehicular manslaughter? DUI? multiple excessive speeding tickets? They lose their right to drive.

Unless he always just accidentally shoots himself (and other people) I'm sure he'll discover the safety lock. Plus the NRA won't agree with just seizing guns from people because someone got a little booboo.

A lot of gunshots are a mystery.

Plaxico shot himself too. And did two years for it. I think the cop should be locked up too.

Or Dipshit who thinks he knows everything... his firearm may have malfunctioned or had worn parts unknown to him, causing a discharge without warning, when it should not have.

Perhaps, but that is why the barrel is never directed at anything you do not intend to shoot. Even most holsters tend to keep the barrel aimed in more or less a safe direction.

People commit vehicular manslaughter and are allowed to drive again. If that's an issue for you, you should post a thread about it.

You lost me richard. Let's try again: People too dumb to safely operate a gun should have them taken away before they hurt someone, especially when there is evidence that they are too dumb to have them. Like when they shoot themselves in the leg in a Walmart parking lot.

Another cop shot?? lets riot!

Another cop shot?? lets riot!

You have that backwards. The riots come when the cops DO the shooting, not when they get shot.

But here's a thought to stir people up some: Why don't white people riot?

Two reasons:

A) Because they aren't dumb enough to burn down their own neighborhoods.

B) There is nothing in the black neighborhoods worth looting.

(This is bullshit, of course. White people do riot, just less often and for different reasons. And with less media coverage.)

Basically I disapprove of rioters and looters. And I think we need a different name to call them, something offensive, disparaging, something they would not want to be called or associated with.

Scat-flinging monkeys?
