"Not wanting to have sex" = rape would not even enter into the discussion under sharia. If a man holds the rights to have sex with you, consent is not even discussed.

They are oppressed here. The fact that things are much worse in other parts of the world doesn't mean we have our shit together. I don't see what's so fucking complicated about this.

There was a time here when a woman couldn't have her husband arrested for forcing her. I know off the top Virginia has some of the most heinous, backwoodsy ideas about marital rape, in their maniacal attempts at conservatism. They even want to outlaw sex positions.
Our judicial and political system is less theological, and therefore seen as less severe. However, there is pure barbarism in their laws and they sadly justify it with their religion. They are just uncivilized people because their system is rudimentary. At least compared to ours.
The difference between US and developing/third world and Islamic countries... is only a seemingly more sophisticated Constitution. Not that people here don't get raped or oppressed/repressed or killed for stupid reasons.

Agreed, but all of the hysteria over the alleged rape culture pales in comparison to regimes that women are not standing on soap boxes denouncing. That is why the rape culture meme falls so flat. That and the fact that rapes are down. Any are too many, but pretending there are things "like" rape or "rapey" minimizes the actual crime. When women denounce false charges for making women who are actually raped less believable, I will be impressed. For now, I am as unimpressed as I am with the concept of white privilege.
