Advancing online videos frame by frame

I started making gifs recently and found a helpful website called RowVid.com that lets you go frame by frame with Youtube videos. I'm trying to find something similar that would work with other online videos.

I searched online & tried a keyboard trick for Vimeo videos but it doesn't quite work. It said to hold shift & then use the left & right arrows to advance. For some reason though, the first time you advance it goes to a different video. Oddly though, I can go frame by frame with no problems with the new unwanted video.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nope. Just started making gifs recently. Wanted a reasonably easy way to get individual frames so the gifs would be smooth.
