I agree. Professional sports are awful. I would never vote for a stadium or anything like that. About the only place that does it right is Green Bay, but I'm sure that if you dig below the surface, you'd find plenty of corruption as well.

But the game of baseball is awesome.

I may get crucified for this, but fuck it. I agree. Baseball is the most boring, stupid game to watch. Maybe it is fun to play? I didn't think so as a kid. I don't think so as an adult.

It just fucking sucks. What other "sport" do they arrange a wake up time in? The "7th inning stretch?" Really????? If it is so fucking boring you have to have a wake up stretch, what the hell is the point?

I can't really get into watching baseball on TV. It totally distorts the perspective of the game.

Minor league games are a lot of fun.

I don't know, baseball is the only sport I can actually watch. I went to school with a major leaguer turned manager, so I follow him.

Since they are games, have no idea how one tests their intelligence. But, one can wonder about the people watching games. For example, a televised football game takes over three hours, while the execution of the plays takes 11-12 minutes.

My grandson just got a 100K scholarship cuz he throws a fast ball about 100 mph. Two former MLB players with World Series rings put him in for the scholarship. And he has excellent grades.

The game is boring because the talent is so good. Horse racing is the same. America loves champions and drama but the competition is tough, and all of the players are damn good.

Baseball is a marvelous game. I will admit that it's considerably more fun to play than to watch, but that opinion is probably shaded by the fact that I was once a player.

It encompasses both individual achievement and team cooperation. On offense it is the batter against the world, one man/woman facing 9 other individuals. On defense close teamwork is required to successfully defend.

As far as the money tied up in the sport goes, I could care less unless public monies are used to finance private gain. ie. the use of public monies to build a stadium. But my objections there extend to football, basketball, and all other professional sports as well. The only exception in my book is the Packers stadium in that the Packers are the very last of the home town owned teams. If you live in Green Bay, you own a share of the team.
