In a bizarre fashion the hackers may have done a much needed public service by exposing the hypocritical, diseased, underbelly of the entertainment industry.

I wonder how distressing it is to the 'fans' to find out that the industries practices are diametrically opposed to their public utterances and political financing? To find out how small minded and petty they are from the corner penthouse office all the way down to the janitor's closet.

I don't expect much to change in the long run, but one can hope. Hope that the general public's, especially the impressionable youth, idol worship of these very small and not very intelligent people will somehow abate. That these entertainers and their supporting casts are essentially nothing more than clowns sans the makeup. The fact that they are skilled at their trade changes nothing. No matter how well played the performance is when the mask comes off they're really not people that you'd want to associate with. So very few are genuine.

The slow exodus from Hollywood has been going on for years now. Like to Vancouver.

Its the cult, and it is a cult, of entertainer worship that bothers me. The studios are just enablers.

Over my life I've had the opportunity to meet, and in some cases party with, some famous names. (All before 'security' became such a big issue and celebrities actually mingled with lesser folk.) In retrospect 90% of them were slugs. Gifted in their individual abilities, but slugs none the less.

And the security issue has made it even worse in that they have become an insular community. Out of touch with reality, so they make up their own version of how things are and how things ought to be. And very little of this faux world of theirs is derived from original thought. Just like their roles on stage it's an act, scripted. Oh, they do believe in the act, they just can't comprehend that it's disconnected from reality.

I suppose that in their own way it's an effort on their part to portray themselves as 'regular people.' To be helpful and caring with no consideration as to the unintended consequences that are produced by their actions.

The SONY hack has gone a long way to strip away the veneer.

I've never been enamored by actors or actresses themselves. Love the craft and love the storytelling aesthetic of movies and tv shows and their ability to seem unwatched under the gaze of millions. But I've never really cared too much about who they are as people. Like the way some folks stopped watching Mel Gibson's movies when he threw around Anti-Semitic slurs(it was an altercation with a cop, wasn't it? Can't remember). Or how everybody was aghast that Christian Bale was a wifebeater and a dick on a set. Yeah. And? I do not watch them to talk or impress me off screen. I pay for a very specific service when I go to the movies and that has nothing to do with who they are or what opinions they hold outside of that.

That people are apt to say things in private communication that they would never dream of saying in public will not come as a shock to anyone who has ever received a PM at Lit.

The interesting thing is the reaction. First off, I think it is a criminal act to expose the emails and they should have to pay no price other than embarrassment, but when it happens to non-liberals, they have to sell their team...

These two, and rightly so, won't even have to worry about their jobs.

:)

Here's another valuable lesson: like some posters here on Lit, we see how sometimes liberals let slip in private what they know they dare not say publicly (like million-man marches across the bottom of the pool). They think it is okay to fiercely censor a conservative because they filter their own thoughts and think everyone should; when they slip, it's just a minor faux pas because "everyone knows" that their 'intentions' are in the right place, whereas a conservative slip proves "how they really feel and think." (That and how conservatives just have no sense of humor. Those emails were some funny shit bro! You should see them on Palin!)

Almost everyone I know of are racists, hating blacks, jews, ragheads, wogs, Canadians, spics. Limeys are the fucking worst ass apples God ever made, Britain exists as proof that hell is real.

Exhibit A would be Query's piss-poor passive aggressive nonsense the other night when he attempted to get that st00pid n00b Kitty get into a fight with Garnate.

He was loudly proclaiming his innocent intentions, but then we got to see screenprints of his actual PMs....

The fact that there are ultra rich entertainers is our own, damn faults. The professional sports industry is on the same, perverted path. You just can't hand exorbitant amounts of cash to people and expect them to behave rationally.

It exposed as well, their real names, their pseudonyms, their children's names, and their healthcare records and SS numbers. As much as I hate Hollywood there are some innocents involved. I agree with your sentiments about Hollywood in general, they are a bunch of phony bastards, but they are our phony bastards. I think the North Korean action could be against anyone's industry, so I think they are a threat that needs to be dealt with. We ought to take down some of their electronic infrastructure in reprisal.

Maybe Obama pulled a Hollywood shakedown and SONY didn't put out.

The North Koreans aren't that smart.

I'll wager on Obama before risking money on the gooks.

I wouldn't sell the North Koreans short, James. Obama is a disaster in every way, but there's no way he could pull this off and keep it a secret.

Wouldn't it be funny if the CIA did it! To out all the Lib racists who fund Feinstein.

Yeah, I heard a report that for her password, Pascal was out of touch enough with the idea of security that she used 'password.'

I use ♗♋☿✰☍☽12 ...

They reached the top. They have an enormous amount of something, and that something took them to the top.

They always say that it is lonely at the top...

(The Heaven Layer people live in a timeless world. They do not need to strive. All are lesser, and there is some mighty striving going on, in those high powered offices. Testosterone City. Pork Sword battles, of the highest order.)

Boston and Cambridge get some good runs, now and then. Old gangster hangouts, and nationally recognized, landmarks, do help.

From my perspective I don't care who did it. This airing of their dirty laundry, petty vindictiveness, and hypocrisy is long over due.

We could fuck them up so badly they'd be eating mud pies, but The Fraud doesn't have the balls to retaliate.

While true enough, in this case I'd say they've performed a public service. :D
