Where Would You Go If You Could Go Anywhere?

I've done so much involuntary traveling this past year (plus), and I'm beginning to get a case of itchy feet. I want to GO somewhere, DO something interesting, and SEE something new!

The place of my dreams is Spain. I adore Moorish art, I've immersed myself in the history of Al-Andalus, and Master and I have had an exchange of fantasies centered in Spain. I would love to make a few of those come true.

So, where would YOU go?

It seems a shame that no one has posted here yet. I can't think of just one place that I'd like to visit, so I'll start with the impossible dream: the International Space Station.

Somewhere in the Caribbean. Doesn't matter where, really.

Georgia and Armenia are high on my list, because their writing looks cool and the food is good. Within Europe I'd love to visit Albania and Montenegro.

On top of those, anywhere English speaking. I keep imagining how relaxed it would be to travel to a country with very little language barrier. I'd understand all the signs without having to think twice, I could eavesdrop on the subway, I wouldn't have to translate the menu for anybody else! Canada and the US are probably the English speaking countries I'd most like to visit, just to see if even some little corners of the huge countries match what I think they would be.

But I also hate flying, so the idea of crossing the pond is all kinds of horrifying. Don't know if I'll ever make it there. At least there are Ireland and the UK this side of the pond for me to visit (although the English spoken there is much harder for me to understand, so there goes my 100% linguistically relaxing vacation).

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about Sicily and Sardinia.

I also think about a little place in Thuringia in Germany. I have stopped at a little hotel there passing through lots of times and would love it if I could spend a long weekend or even a week there with my family.

As anyone who has seen the Lord of the Rings movies knows much of that country is beyond gorgeous.

I will tell you, traveling the country, you definitely see the scenery from the movies.

My next big place I want to go is Africa and I am currently starting to plan my trip there, tentatively fall of 2015.

My mom took a getaway after her heart attack, several years ago, and took a week in Aruba. She had a blast! My brother has gone diving off Bonaire. Some day I'll get there. I'd love to do one of those Barefoot cruises.

I have a deep desire to gather provisions and kidnap a certain kind of companion and go live in a treehouse high up in a redwood for a long long while.
