The Official Author's Hangout 2014 Winter Holidays Contest Support Thread

Well look at that, make a post and get a bomb.

Mister troll is certainly lurking on these boards. I know, must be scouries.

But they're part of this forum for sure.

Pretty sad to just run up and down the board and contest list all day sniping at people's stories.

Yup, my entry with over 600 votes just dropped in score again. That doesn't happen with 3 or 4 star votes. Also a few votes disappeared early today. Some very minor sweeping.

I would be surprised if your stories didn't get the occasional rash of negative comments too, SR. It's good to know those kinds of comments are still unusual enough to be worthy of notice, even with the recent uptick.

Yes (knock on wood), I only rarely see a negative comment on my stories. When I do, more often or not, they are about me, not the story, and are pretty easily connected with forum discussions.

That's what's frustrating. My story is closing in on 800 votes, yet one one star can drop .01, yet...it takes how many successive fives to get that point back?

My story seems at this point as if it is being monitored and "kept" at a certain score. I know this because whenever I go up a point it stays for awhile until it drops(which is when the public page updates) if it stays there it seems left alone until it gets that point back.

I figure they do that instead of multi bombing because perhaps a bomb a day might stick through the sweep

So I have no doubt people scoreboard watch

Mine has not budged .01 up or down over 300 new votes.

One of mine, which started really strongly, is now bombed every time it hits 4.5. It's no threat to anyone, so why are they wasting their time?

Nutters. Fucking petty, weirdo nutters.

This was my first contest entry, and I have to say I found the experience rather disappointing. I'll admit at the outset that this wasn't my best story, and I rushed the editing because I misunderstood the deadline. However, I found that scores are much lower than I normally see. Views and votes are high, but scores are abysmal. I've read about a dozen stories, and every one of them was scoring substantially lower than I would have predicted based on reading other stories in those categories, and the scores those authors usually receive. I don't think I will go out of my way to enter another contest.

That's normal for a Contest. The sweeps make a huge difference.

You'll get a nice jump in the sweeps.

But its unfortunate this is your first one. It seems that Halloween was badly trolled and had some site issues tossed in.

This one the trolling is worse and CP's mention of the 300 votes with no change means there could be a glitch somewhere as well.

Hopefully you are getting some action on your older stories, the contests are good for that.

I don't think it can be reiterated enough (although it's reiterated a lot) on the contest thread that there's little meaning in the ratings until the massive sweep is done right before the winners are announced. You are just unnecessarily flagellating yourself by complaining about ratings until after you see that score.

It does seem weird-a repeat of Halloween--but it could be just the score, who knows. It's a light story. I notice the more Feedback I get that says "Awesome Story!" (translation: I jerked off) the more middling the score. You have to toss in some love and soulmating to be taken seriously.

Sweeps? Not that I've noticed. Since my 1-bombing and massive Red-H-loss a few weeks ago, my scores have not rebounded, are still sunk in the toilet, and I'm just not bothering to closely track my contest-entry scores, which are much below what I was receiving with similar stories a few months ago. Oh well, here on LIT, Author equals Target.

It's haphazard. Only happened to one of my entries. I think, as has been suggested in earlier contests, that these early, minor sweeps are being conducted by category.

I don't have a clue what I did to deserve this honour.

Like any other category incest has its factions I think the stroke vs substance mix is close to 50/50 but I find the higher marks go to the stories that capture "incest romance" talk about a bizarre term

I got a "jerk off" comment today on an Aunt story, have to say its an interesting visual

Did I enjoy this story???

I'm currently on all fours, panting hard, sweat dripping off my naked body, a combination of my wetness and KY jelly running down the insides of my thighs, my John Holmes suction cup dildo still stuck to the table leg and poised for more action though minutes ago I was shamelessly twerking it to a rip roaring orgasm punctuated with my shouts of "FUCK ME BABY!" "FUCK YOUR BITCH GOOD AND HARD!".

Yeah, I enjoyed your wonderful story...a lot! ;-)

More Auntie Sinclair please. Thank you!

Lmao! That is, uh, quite detailed. Bet she forgot to vote

She didn't want to get KY on her keyboard.

I was so out of it earlier when I read that I thought, if you're so wet what's the KY for....then I smacked myself and said "never mind"

That's great! Intro, body, conclusion, action verbs, descriptive nouns, repetition of 'did I enjoy' and 'yeah, I enjoyed,' and sparing use of adverbs.
But especially the verbs and relatives: panting...dripping...running...stuck...poised...twerking...roaring...punctuated...fuck...fuck
