Republicans can’t pass an immigration bill, and somehow that’s Obama’s fault

If your communism ever came into being and millions were marched off to re-education camps to get their lead deficiencies addressed, it would still be America as well, but not the one we have shed blood to keep. You want something different you might have to shed some of your own to get it.

That comes later, we're already in the midst of full time brain washing, which is all Orf's posts are about.

We do need border security first.

Haven't we been through this before?

HIDALGO, Texas — As Congress debates border funding and governors demand more aid to curb illegal immigration and other problems, government records show that taxpayers have spent $90 billion over 10 years to secure the US-Mexican border.

The Associated Press tallied the combined costs using White House budgets, reports obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests, and congressional transcripts.

Among the expenses:

■ Deployment of 1,200 National Guard soldiers for one year: $110 million

■ One rail cargo X-ray screening machine: $1.75 million

■ Average annual salary of a Customs and Border Protection officer: $75,000

■ Cost of a drug-searching dog: $4,500

For taxpayers footing these bills, the returns have been mixed: fewer illegal immigrants but little impact on the terrorism issue, and no stoppage of the drug supply, officials said.

So: The border has not been secured against drug smuggling -- but, WRT illegal immigrants (and terrorists), there has been some improvement. More importantly, after spending all that money on it, obviously the border is already as secure as it is ever going to get.

No, we still haven't built the fence system Congress authorized years ago. We need our military on the border. We need a President who has America's best interests at heart, instead of trying to bring to life those dreams he received from his father.

"Fortress Wingnuttia".

Right? Where did all that money go?

Because a fence won't solve the majority of the problem and anybody with any understanding of the situation can tell you that a border fence would at best solve part of the problem and history suggests that it would make our general scenario worse not better.

The idea that we don't have a president who loves America and has it's best interests at heart is simply insane.

Right? Where did all that money go?

What money?

What would be the point of devoting that much money and manpower to it?

Before you post again, please write this sentence 100 times:

"Immigration control is NOT a national-defense problem."

Learn it. Live it. Be it.

The border fence again?

You want to create a fence.. that runs along 2000 miles of border.. a huge chunk of it being desert.. then maintain it... then it constantly patrol it?

the costs would be absolutely astronomical..so much for small government

in the end this fence idea would make the stimulus bailout seem like penny pinching

nor would a fence change anything about the 11 million illegal immigrants currently in your country

Wonder how much it would cost to hire people to guard the border.
Hire one person to guard 6 feet of the border. Pay them $10/hour and have three shifts for each 6 feet.

We would also have to build a continuous highway running parallel to the fence all along its length, I suppose. Just to supply the border guards.

You wanted unwed pregnant teens sent away from polite society.

so you want...1, 176,000 people patrolling the border.. 6 feet apart from each other at a cost of $ 282 240 000...a day?

really?

Spread out over 2000 miles. Encase you don't know off hand there are 5280 feet per mile. So that 880 people per mile. Or 1.76 million people. Now you don't actually need that many people but you're also assuming they'd work for $10 dollars an hour which I doubt.
