You don't need a passport. Sometimes there are posts on the GB that seem to imply that they are very separate from the playground but I think the playground is really many of us. That is why I did the poll.

I am also originally from How to but I have spent a lot of time in the playground as well.
I used to just check new posts and post in whatever thread sounded interesting regardless of forum. Then I followed those that were interesting. I ran out of time to do that last year so mainly I just read the GB or had it read to me.
