Wow. My new story in the Romance category has been up for less than 24 hours, and has already twice the volume of votes of the GS entry, with half the views. Interesting.

I finally submitted my last entry. It had a typical genesis. I started with a single idea, blew it up into four different stories, shitcanned two of them (and a bunch of other contest ideas), got bored with another (maybe I'll finish it for next year), and procrastinated on the last till I devised an ending that's hopefully not too lame. Oh well, that's done.

And just in time. Tomorrow is my actual contest deadline; I'll be traveling and busy for most of the upcoming week, up to official deadline. So it's the usual thing of scrambling to make a deadline. Story of my life, folks.

I'm a working masochist. I torture myself. I commit myself to something, then feel guilty that I'm not working on it, and let that block working on other stuff, and don't really accomplish anything till frantic guilt drives me on. Aha, but now I'm free to write what I want... until I set the next deadline. Then I'm fucked.

I think it would be more F&SF. The (abstract) deadline becomes a (real) entity. Maybe it's a manifestation of the writer's angst, or their evil twin materialized. This could easily rate tags of NonCon (emergent D/L rapes writer) or BDSM (writer submits to D/L's dominance) or pseudo-incestuous GM or Lesbian (writer and D/L are clones) or EC (writer learns to lust for the D/L) or EH (D/L is demonic) or even Romance (writer moves through love/hate relationship with the D/L). Could be a weird LW tale too (writer cheats with D/L). Yes, that could be played many ways.

You could still pull it from the pipeline and edit it, and then submit it on Sunday. The official cut off is Sunday at midnight. But allegedly there is a grace period for late stories even after that.

I have tried to read them all and vote because I hope others are reading mine and voting. Even the ones in catagories which aren't my cup of tea. I have missed a few because there are some catagories I can only take so much of without making myself ill. There are a lot of incest stories this time, and a bestiality disguised as non-human. I do not judge, I just can only take so much in the pursuit of fairness. I can understand why mine is doing so poorly. It's depressing as hell.
