The Official Author's Hangout 2014 Winter Holidays Contest Support Thread

My interpretation was that seeing there were three "Yaaks" they re obviously looking for Chapter's two and three.

Maybe it was the Mongolian Lit contingency giving you three Yaks using the local spelling.

Does anyone know if you score can drop without your vote total dropping? Mine seems to have done so. It was only .01 but still...seems weird.

I really do pay way too much attention to this stuff.

.

It could happen when there was sweeping going on at the same time as new votes coming in. Don't know as there has been any sweeping on the contest yet, though.

The end of the month sweeps should be starting soon if not already. You might have lost a couple of votes and gained a couple of votes about the same time. Votes evened out but the score changed.

Good point, and one I had not considered. Thanks

Sugar Plum Fairy is doing better than I expected - several favourites and two comments before it appeared in my list of stories.

The rating? Ho Hum.

The sweep begins...in a very small way.
Two stories each had one vote dropped. One moved up .06, the other .01.
My incest entry story with 600+ votes lost all of two votes, possibly a couple more that were replaced overnight. No change in score.
Presumably, the end of contest sweeps will use a bigger broom.

Any sweeping going on right now is most likely some sort of maintenance sweep, peripherals from the catch-up monthly contest announcements, etc.

Real contest sweeps don't generally happen until the submission period has closed.

I saw a .02 improvement overnight. My score has remained pretty much level from the start. 50K+ views have only generated 250 votes. It's still better than my Halloween entry did which received some love over the weekend moving its score above 4 for the first time.

Yep. Another monthly winner went up today. That's the most likely reason for the current sweeps.

You'll know it when the first contest sweep hits. Even if the first one doesn't hit yours hard, several people will get bled like stuck pigs, and it will be mentioned.

Have a general theme for a quickie... Don't have a title for the damn thing, though.

Pondering that while I stare at the cover mock-up. With RR stories, the title has to be perfect. It's a signature thing in this name.

2014 Xmas/New Years Contest

http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m3lywjFL2i1qiacz8o1_500.gif

You can begin submitting your stories on December 7th and up until December 31st .
The winners will be announced on or around January 3rd 2014

You can discuss this special contest here on the tigerlady’s AHland toady thread, or of course over on the official A.I.R. thread.

RULES (for the A.I.R. section of the contest):
(see the QUEEN for this weeks LITEROTICA Rules and their interpretation)

- All submissions must be stand-alone stories created for this contest theme. We will not accept individual chapters of a larger work submitted separately.

- Nor will stories featuring characters, locales, plot lines, etc., etc., that have been previously used by the author be accepted.

- Prizes will be awarded in the following categories (a story can only win one prize in each contest):

1) Best Overall Story
2) Most Views
3) Most Comments
4) Most Votes
5) Highest Score

- A story has to accrue a minimum of 250 votes to be eligible (higher in some categories). The vote, comment, view, favorite, and score numbers that are reported by LITEROTICA will be used subject to final verification by the A.I.R. Computer Center.

- Authors are prohibited from voting or commenting on their own stories. Their votes on competing stories will also be swept away.

- Story must have a Xmas/New Years Theme.

- It must be erotic in content.

- Non-Human/Science-Fiction category stories will not be accepted in this contest.

- Story must not exceed 5 LITEROTICA pages in length (20,000 words).

- Each author is allowed only one submission (under his name and his various ALTS – ie darkboy and the lesslight ALT are allowed only one entry - not two) per contest.

-An exception to this rule has been made for Top 25 “Most Favorited” authors – they are allowed two or three depending upon their ranking.

- No character may be named Pauletta.

- Don’t just submit some rehashed story you’ve been working on for years. We want something fresh. Be creative!

- The "least viewed" story in the contest has absolutely no chance of winning a prize.

- A.I.R. reserves the right to disqualify without notice or explanation any story in which any kind of cheating or vote-tampering is suspected.

- Every story that meets the above criteria and is submitted to LITEROTICA during the contest period will be automatically entered into the A.I.R. contest. No special submission form must be filled out. We believe in inclusivity!

- If you have any questions regarding any of the above or anything pertaining to our contests, feel free to contact me by PM or email, or post any questions you have on this thread.

Good Luck!!!

It looks like many of us, even some experienced writers, not that I'm one, were slow in getting our stories submitted for this contest.

Is that common?

Like I said once before, I prefer to just let the story go where it wants to go and decide later what kind it is. Writing a specific theme or topic gives me difficulty.

I'm already starting my Valentines 2015 story.

Yeah it's fairly common, get the usual push at the last minute to finish entries. This one it's a bit more expected as the Halloween contest ended just before the Christmas contest started.

I'm still new here so can someone answer a couple of questions for me?

What are the "sweeps," who does them and when?

How do we find out about monthly winners in a timely fashion?

How can I tell how well my story in a contest is doing against other stories?

My Winter Contest story was entered in a different category than the one I indicated at the time of submission. How is that determination made and by whom?

And finally, what the fuck is up with scouriesworld?

Yes

The sweeps are done by the site to try and even out the trolls and cheating. What they are exactly is a secret to keep people from circumventing them.

The "Monthlys" were a couple of years behind at one point and are slowly being caught up.

Until the sweeps are finished at the end of the contest there is no way to tell how a story is doing.

You can post any story to any category but Laurel, the one and only person reading the new submissions has the last word in where she thinks it should be. If you disagree and have a good reason, Pm her and ask to have it moved.

Scouriesworld is a guy named scouries that hates the contests held by Lit and the AH in general. He is the self-proclaimed number one writer on Lit that has never even placed in any contest. Not the specials, not the monthlys, and not even the old end of year awards. He even nominated himself for different categories and never got on the ballots. Of course that is not his fault or the fault of his crappy writing but it is the fault of the AH and the web site.

Now he is an association of one who holds fake contests, fake awards, and makes up fake lists to pump up his already over-inflated ego and to disrupt the real contests and awards.

The best place for him and his alts is on your ignore list. That is where most people put him.

I tend to post at the beginning of the contest unless my muse bugs me to do another one during the contest. I write up to a year in advance of posting to Lit. (and, yes, I have a Valentine's Day one written already).
