THANK YOU! Smiley will love this; I'm definitely trying it.
If we were closer, I would just bring you my leftovers. :)
Heads up: I added fresh minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce and a couple dashes of Tabasco to liven it up. I also used sweet red onions, and cooked the cabbage down a lot more than they show in the pic. Those are suggestions from a coworker who told me about the recipe- she makes it every year for Thanksgiving.

Salivating!

Thanks!! it was a gut buster too B) I'll be gnawing on those things for a few days, good thing I like em.

High holy jamfucks that looks deeeeeelish!

I'm sorry!
Let's try again.
It was okay and even cutting down the recipe, it made a TON so now I have to pawn a couple containers off on some peeps.

Holy shit, holy shit- YES.
Bot, that looks FAB.

And the green La Creuset is just as gorgeous.

Ohh I'll have to try that Haluski noodles onion and cabbage bit....sounds nommy.

TY and TY! I've become a recent' fan...I've got a decent Lodge collection well seasoned and better than non stick but I'm finding more and more the enamel coated cast iron has a beauty all it's own too, esp with wet/saucy dishes.

I would eat pizza with you anytime!

I have a sufficient amount of cast-iron but I have a hard time keeping the season on them, and I'm following the Lodge directions. I have to re-season this winter. Sometimes I feel like I love cast-iron but it doesn't love me.
I do have a nice, enamel-coated 5 qt Lodge pot that has solved a lot of the seasoning issues for me. I do love the even heating. Maybe someday I'll get my hands on a Le Creuset. ;)

The secret to keeping cast iron seasoned, is keeping it clean immediately after use.

While BotBoy is fapping over his le crueset, I wanted to say how much I love my cast iron! I have several skillets, a Dutch oven, a flat griddle, even this wavy one for frying bacon. I have one to make Danish aebleskivers and the cutest set of four little pots for individual onion soups.

Are you concerned about microbes??

Once I have cast iron seasoned I do not wash it if I do not have to. I usually can wipe it out with no more than a damp cloth, get it hot to dry it and open the pores, then I apply a light rub of oil.

Real French onion soup around a campfire on a cold night? Yes, please.

Fuck no..I was asking bluebell that question.

Soap doesn't get anywhere near my cast iron....*hisssss* that shit is the devil!!!

If it's bad I boil it out....but usually it wipes just fine with a lil heat and a bit of avocado/olive oil. I use coconut on my sweets pan...because sweets yo...breakfast biscuits or cinnamon rolls with that coconut crisp on the edge? OHHH SON!!!! level it up!!

Shit now I want to make a youtube cooking show...good thing tomorrows chunk o' pig is still mostly frozen or I would. :D

17th year wedding anniversary is furniture. I doubt she realized why, and I am quite sure she did not fully appreciate it since she traded away a $6,000 dining room set for a particleboard 3/4 sized pool table... but i walked away from an entire houseful of furniture. ~happy anniversary, honey!~

However, I took the entire kitchen.

Most everything in that was mine from 25 years before, or gifted to me on birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas or Fathers Day.

I have been adding vintage small appliances. I may have to give up my 1948 mint gas stove, and the first model-year dishwasher ever (maybe) because I'm tired of storing them.

Ends up being just a few things you use over and over.

I still have never used my antique-ish apple peeler.

Ah...mis-read you. That was my understanding too.

I keep meaning to add coconut oil to my larder, and I have still never used it (I know, for shame) neither have I tried avocado, and with the number of avocados I go through I should have a press..(can one do that?)

I did take a pic of my little soup pot, ipod to gauge size. At one time someone was eyeing those around here to make bullets in.

Edit for better straight picture.

Bigger than I expected I pictured somewhere between there and a ramekin. Really cute witches cauldron look. Do you know the stone soup story? I used to make stone soup with my kids. I haven't with the little one. I need to do that. Over a bed of coals I am thinking.

Well if that isn't the cutest lil cauldron looking soup pot I'll bend over and kiss my own ass....very cool :D

I used to have these little cast iron soup cups, they were like a big expresso coffee cup or small bowl with a handle on one side. I loved those damn things, lost them in a move, lost a really awesome Cutco turner on that one too.... =\ oh well shit happens.

I guess you could....I just buy it in a jar/bottle.

"Turner?" I had to look that up. Now I am questioning my entire upbringing and my lexicon. Why the hell was I told that is a "Spatula." Now that I think about.. it WTF is a Spatula? What language is that even in?

As I look into that...although my usage is common that isn't what it is...its the thing you squeegee the cake batter out of the bowl with.

LOL

DRACULA SPATULA!!!

Both work fine I suppose....I usually call the flexible thinner ones spatulas as they just seem more spatula like.

And the heavier non flexible ones turners.

Maybe it's a N v S thing??

Maybe East Coast vs West Coast??

I do know how to make stone soup?! My pots are cute aren't they?!

I did a search for bacon pans and Wiiliams and Sonoma had some models, this one isn't WS, but it gives you an idea what it looks like. Mine is more oblong, and I've never seen a funky handle like that.

A rubber spatula?

A rubber spatula?

yeah THOSE are spatulas...flexible, scrapey-spready things. Like the thing cake-decorators spread frosting with, spatula... Something you pick stuff up with that has an offset handle, is a turner I have just proclaimed. Not a spatula. I am going to call them turners for the second half of my life.

LOL

Yes I think that is just so. Its the flexibility that makes it a spatula or a turner. If you cannot really Spackle with it, its a turner.
