'Soul Boys of the Western World'- Spandau Ballet

So true...

hmmm.

Why do I find it so hard to write the next line?

Tbh I hated True and still do! They were a cult band initially but in a unique way. For example their gigs would be at a nightclub in Covent Garden called the Blitz, but by rumour. They would only admit those who looked 'good'. The doorman was Steve Strange of 'Fade To Grey' fame and the cloakroom attendant a certain Boy George! Their early stuff, like 'The Freeze' and 'To Cut A Long Story Short' was a sound simply never heard before. They wore outrageous clothes more akin to the Macaroni's of the 19th century.

Sadly around the same time another band from Birmingham with five members took world domination and Spandau 'sold out' with some dreadful commercial crap, failing dismally to follow suit. Nonetheless their acrimonious fallout is fascinating, mainly over royalties...

All that said about them 'selling out', their final offering, their swan song, was outstanding. With arguably the best male vocal performance ever heard when Tony hits the notes:
