But what about the businessman that hired that illegal, in and of itself an illegal activity, not out of any altruistic notion of concern for the consumer, but just to get a competitive edge on his competition (who most likely also had to hire illegals just to stay in business). What happens to that businessman? Why he gets a slap on the wrist and a token fine, that's it.

One man has his life turned upside down and the other gets a nod and a wink.

Make the hiring of illegals a felony with some real teeth in it and the illegals will self-deport. Millions of Americans will have opportunities to find work (and the notion that the bulk of the illegals work in the agricultural sector is a red herring, they don't). And the consumer will not be hit with massive increases in the price of goods, that also is a red herring.

I was only in town for a wedding so I do not know the particulars in Oregon. Only that it was really odd.

It does not however make much sense. Pumping gas isn't an extreme sport, the worst I've ever had happen to me at a gas station is some fuckhead forgetting to pull the pump out of his F-350 before pulling away and spraying me with gas. I went to work (cus I was 90% of the way there) told them the deal explained I was going home for a shower and would be back in a little over an hour and they asked why I didn't call.


There is no good reason for teenagers to be employed. We do it because we're a sick society but employing teens, especially for something that any idiot can do is sick.
