Snowpiercer

I can't tell if it's brilliant or total crap.

I've only seen the trailer, and my read was pseudointellectual crap. Like something I MIGHT have enjoyed at 19, but only while really fucking high. Now though? I'm dubious.

meh

i watched it last night, i was underwhelmed.

some people (like lemonbread) like dystopian stories but i usually find them too far-fetched to be taken seriously or even considered as allegory.

most dystopian movies tend to be semi-political (often annoyingly political) cautionary tales, but this film didn't follow that track too much.
instead it played out like a junior college creative writing assignment: ok class, you're going to write a futuristic end-of-the-world story and it has to take place on a train.

the plot was predictable, the plot twists were unique but not compelling, and the action was good without being the focus.

i give it a C-

But what about the snowflake? That looked like art? A movie is a lot more that a story. They give Oscars for costumes, for chrisakes.

My jury is hung, well hung.

I watched it the other day. It was ok. I thought it was a unique story line. I mean... when else have you heard a story about the last humans are stuck on a train circling the globe?

prolly because that script landed at the bottom of 27 different movie studio trash cans first
