The long and short of it: Lena Dunham wrote a book "Not That Kind of Girl" in which she describes sordid details of sexual acts involving her sister, when she was a child. In taking a look at the book (I certainly did not buy such a thing) myself, I can say she not only came across as a sexual predator as a kid, and she even explicitly described her actions as such. I can't help but think her mother was more at fault than she was, but still, she comes across as a frighteningly disgusting human being that no sane person would allow around children, supervised or otherwise.
However, here's the problem. The scandal was brought to the surface by a right wing blog called Truth Revolts.
Screech. Full stop.
The Right Wing started this fight over Lena Dunham. The same right wing that kept Mark Foley's pedophile ways under wraps until the Democrats blew the lid off of Foley in the 2006 October Surprise which destroyed the GOP's dying hopes of maintaining their 6 year domination of Congress. The same right wing that sat silent while a hundred already convicted or arrested Republican pedophile politicians came to light shortly thereafter. The same right wing that sat silent while the Pope let pedophile priests terrorize America in their churches with near total impunity.
Lena Dunham, of course, is a human dirtbag. The feminists trying to portray her as a persecuted victim are molestation-defending dirtbags. But the Conservatives who broke this story never had anything to say about the child molesting, pedophile dirtbags in their own party. What does that say about them?
It says that they don't care about sex crimes against children. Until they can use it as a weapon to crush feminists.
And like sharks spotting a bleeding fish, men's rights activists are rapidly joining in on the fun.
The fish, of course, deserves to get ripped to shreds. But men's rights activists need to realize the Conservatives are about opportunism and not real justice. We need to do more than just crush the radical feminists with that weapon, we need to turn and use that weapon on the Republicans, who have a history of defending pedophiles in their own midst... sometimes to their highly publicized detriment. Or maybe we shouldn't even use it like a weapon, as the Republicans have.
Maybe (certainly!) we should just meat grind any mother fucker that someone catches doing this shit to children. Any mother fucker, ever. But since the Republicans who defend pedophiles in their own ranks lifted their heads to call out Lena Dunham, why not START off with calling them out along with her? Certainly it's easy to hit a thousand pedophile defenders gathered in one convenient ideological spot. But that's only a start. There's also Democrat pedophiles - although far fewer, of course - and those who defended them.
And here's a self serving reason for why the MRA feeding frenzy should not stop at corrupt feminists or Republican hypocrites: lots of those kids who get molested are not only girls, but boys... and nobody gives a DAMN about them.
But at least start with the Republicans. Because the GOP fights for patriarchal values and like female hypergamy and misandry, patriarchy hurts men. (Just ask those Catholic boys.) Death to patriarchy, death to misandry, and prison time or brutal public censure for all who molest children... not just Lena Dunham. Outrage, not opportunism.
