This is a pretty hot shit idea.

Finally someone came up with a use for drones that is truly humanitarian and doable.

Ambulance Drone

I hope that the logistics can be fleshed out.

That is a good idea. I chuckled at the "insulin injection" bit in the article. Whoever wrote that doesn't understand diabetic emergencies very well. But whatever, this sort of thing could be super useful. Even moreso for search and rescue stuff, disaster relief, people stranded places without water, stuff like that. Hell, cyclists with a flat and no spare could have cheap insurance for a drone delivery. Motorists who run out of gas. A four kilo payload is a gallon of gas and a note that says "check your tank next time, dumbass."

Who is going to hook the person up to the medical equipment?

AED's are incredibly easy to use, as is oxygen. The AED talks to you and has simple pictures. All you have to do is turn it on and it starts giving directions.

But who is going to be the person who decides who needs what?
Sounds like a lawsuit in the making.

AED's don't do anything to people who don't need them.

You call 911 and say you have chest pain. The dispatcher sends an ambulance and a drone. The drone gets there and someone, anyone, turns it on and sticks the pads to your chest. The machine tells you the rest, and won't allow a shock unless you're in a shockable heart rhythm.

Shockable heart rhythms do not perfuse the body. In a simpler time, this was known as "dead."

Lawsuits for medical action need to prove that the defendant made the plaintiff worse.

Worse than dead is hard to prove.

This is why CPR and public AED's are so common now. They're simple and foolproof.

This is also why I chuckled at the idea of insulin. That could certainly kill someone and is a terrible idea to have flying around. Paramedics aren't allowed to give insulin.

An Epi-Pen would be another good first aid item for one of these things. Allergic? Can't breathe? Stab your thigh with this. Same with albuterol MDI's. There's a few other drugs, some mechanical things...Tourniquets are one of the things that come to mind that are simple and easy to use without any major ability to cause too much havoc. Maybe one of the newer hemostatic dressings. This is all easy stuff that could make a big difference. Nasal Naloxone for opiate overdoses.
