I do. Seal them with hot wax too. It's a lost art it seems but so worth the time.

My sister who is on the short list of people I love still writes. She sends news clippings and such. Always the teacher.

What a wonderful idea for a thread. I do but not nearly enough. I did that with a grandmother and godmother before they passed. Got a wonderful letter from my godmother's son after she passed about how their family would read them to her in the old folks home and they appreciated it. I had lost touch with her until I heard she was in a home and then started sending letters and cards. I like to decorate mine with stickers or little drawings (not that I can draw because I cant) of hearts, Suns or simple flowers because that's all I can make look right. I send a few every Christmas to some daughters of some good friends of mine with sets of new stickers inside and money. Kids love receiving mail and one of my friends takes a pic every year of her daughter in her pjs on Christmas day opening my card and holding up whatever goodies I've included.

No, they don't teach it in our school. I taught it to my kids because I think it has its place.

I also write letters and quite often. I wrote to an old friend today. I write a card every week to our landowners. People appreciate the effort of a handwritten note far more than an email saying "TY".

I can get wordy so I don't write a letter by hand too often. Depending who it's for I'll use an old fountain pen. I like the feel of it dragging across thick, fancy, writing paper.

Sometimes I'll use one of these , but it's reserved only for the specialist kind of person or if I get it in my head it would be cool after having several drinks. Nothing says your important better than a letter written by hand , using a quill & ink while drunk

I love to write letters. I do to about two of my friends on a regular basis and have been known to mail cards of friendship to friends that live in the same town. Doesnt everyone love getting personal mail?

It's so strange how penmanship gets better with practice. I still have the extra lines used with the start of each letter-- the way that I was taught. It's also strange how cursive writing changes over time, when I was smaller the cursive was larger and the letters were round. The cursive is prettier now.

I still have to write by hand at work. I am going to investigate how many of us write with a cursive.

I haven't written a letter by hand in a long time. I think I will start up a letter to my cousin. I will use pretty paper.

I tried to write cursive a while back. Wow! Embarrassing! Looked like a whatever grader they first taught us. I took drafting (T-square, set squares and pencils) in high school. Gothic lettering took over from cursive. I really should try and get it back. Lost art and all that.

I used to write a lot, I have tons of stationery, stamps, wax and various seals.

I still send condolence letters, bread and butter notes, birthday cards, get well letters, and thank you notes.
Numerous injuries have made my handwriting "chaotic" as Byron once said so I tend to type a letter and then sign it.

I did hand write him because 1) he wanted me to, he was sad last Christmas that other people were writing us, but we weren't writing each other, 2) he liked trying to figure out my handwriting and 3) he would be so excited and happy when he got mail and I loved to make him happy. I also put in notes when I sent him things.

I don't send as many cards as I used to but what I do send are really nice. I've used cards by Papyrus the last 3 yrs and everyone loved them. Many have been preserved as part of Christmas 201x memories, which is nice.

In my youth people were lucky I read any letters let alone replied. I always like the feel of the old Shaffer fountain pens with cartridges you replace.
