Serious question here. Have any of you ingested any meds meant for your pets? Say feline medication? Did you have any terrible effects, were you hospitalized?

Or did you just lie on the carpet and try and lick your GIANT SINISTER BOLLOCKS?

No, no, no, and yes, in that order.

More than once, as I go through the hounds giving them Ivomec I've had the drug returned to me by a hound fighting and spitting.

Nothing untoward happened to me other than losing my diet programs required tapeworms.

Perhaps some strange urges to go lick someone's balls and sniff some arse, but I control those.

Seriously: Read the label and follow instructions if you accidentally ate a dose of pet medicine and it wasn't doxycycline.

I've always suspected as much but, purely out of politeness, I've heretofore kept it to myself.

It is kind of a serious question. A misunderstanding that needs clearing up when the other poster comes online. If he ever talks to me again. :(

I apologise, light of my life, fire of my loins. I forgot one man's dog is another woman's Hound of Love. Forgive my levity.

This is the text I sent.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news mate, but not going to see you for a while. I'm in hospital at the moment and the doctors have informed me it could be a long stay. Like an idiot I've drank the cat's medication. Don't ask meow.

Dear Laurel

Fata, the cunt, is posting my privates. Tell her to stop or I will make her lick indie's beard.

Love,
Pete

Stop whining to the boss woman. And why hasn't she changed your name?

Oh and too fucking far on the beard thing. :(

Not the cat drugs. However, while I was a farmer I did suffer a few accidental needle sticks over the years, usually vaccines. No harm done, although there was some swelling once or twice.

We have a cat on a lot of meds, and some of those come from pharmacies, same as for humans.

I know a few farmers who self-medicate with veterinary drugs, no problems that I know of.

Basically-
1)Some drugs, such as Chloramphenicol are banned for human as well as meat anima use in the USA, and for good reason. Avoid those like cancer.

2)"It's not the poison: it's the dose" Body mass is a big factor.

3) Many veterinary drugs are just surplus or "seconds", practically the same as what is used for people. The big differences are in the quality of the suspension agents, rather than a difference in the molecule of the active ingredient. Make sure those liquid drugs are shaken or mixed and well suspended before using on you or your animal.

With those 3 caveats, probably nothing to worry about, unless prone to allergic reactions.

i have ordered antibiotics off of petmeds.com and used them for myself. at the time, i didn't have the money to both visit the doctor and pay for medication. i recovered, although i now speak dog.

I've done the opposite. I know doctors who are script writers so when Sparky had an ear infection I went in all, "So I have an ear infection" knowing that he wouldn't check me just for antibiotics when there are people in there trying to get Perks and Oxis.

Isn't ketamine derived from a horse tranquilizer, or is that an urban myth? If so, there will be plenty who have taken that with few or no ill effects.

A great many vet meds are administered to humans. I've gotten anti-biotics from my vets in the past, same stuff the Dr. orders at a tenth of the price.

Research the stuff on-line before you give it a go though.

I feel like Fata wouldn't be taking Special K
