Ebola vaccine in Canada

knowing the way shit works in this country i probably wouldn't be able to afford it, so probably not.

"hey Stew, why are your eyes bleeding?"..."I got the ebola vaccination today bro!"

Stew

I would accept but not seek out. Not that worried. If it gets bad enough to vaccinate general population in NA, which I doubt will happen, Ebola will no longer be the biggest problem we face.

It's proven 100% effective on animals and the first phase of human trials should be completed by December.

If it turns out that it works on people, would you accept or seek out vaccination?
Why or why not?

First of all that's wonderful news. And if proven effective in human trials, yes I would get the vaccination.

The bad news is that I can see no way that production could be ramped up in time to meet the demand required by the current outbreak.

The Canadian Government said they'll donate 1000 of the trial doses to WHO, but they still don't know how much a person might need to take for it to be effective...

I don't think I'm freaked out enough to want to take it myself.

Nah....It's simply not on the threat radar, because a faulty vending machine killing me is about 60x the threat Ebola is.

One more reason to move a little bit north. What's stopping you?

Your immigration laws.....not quite as weed friendly either.

The sky is forever falling in Ishmael's sad sad world.

I don't understand imperial gallons.

Because gallons are dumb, use the metric system, it's better.

I might accept after a few hundred thousand other people had gone. With most vaccines there is a small chance of contracting the disease itself and frankly I'm not worried at all about Ebola. As Bot pointed out faulty vending machines are quite a bit more dangerous than that.

There's no *outbreak*

No, because at the moment and for the foreseeable future I am not at any risk of contracting ebola. And given that any vaccine developed for it will be in such limited quantities in the short term, there would be absolutely no justification for anyone outside of West Africa who is not a healthcare worker working directly with ebola patients to be vaccinated. For an ordinary resident of the developed world to be vaccinated would amount to someone who didn't need it deliberately taking it from someone who did.

So, basically, unless you work with ebola patients or live in Liberia, Sierra Leone, or Guinea, you can only answer yes to your question if all you care about is assuaging your own unreasonable fears to the point that you'd be willing to undermine actual efforts to cure and prevent the disease just so you didn't feel afraid.

You'd be better off taking Xanax, really.

Oh, and I should probably make clear, just to be sure, that that "you" is general and not referring to anyone specifically. Except for "your question", of course, which is specific.
