There are four or five drives ins left in Maine. The one in Skowhegan had a Stephen King film festival this summer to raise the funds to purchase digital equipment.

I've been to many!

And yes,Lori needs to put this on her bucket list. Maybe we'll take her when we get together for the Lit Girls super secret Lit-together.

We'll do it! I do remember my best friend and I finding an abandoned one and stopping to take some pics. It was kind of creepy. I need to see if I can dig those up.

Oohhhh I'd LOVE to take pics of that. I love that kind of thing. Process them in B&W.

I've been to one drive-in. We were out in Ohio on our annual summer road trip. The double feature was Harriet the Spy and Down Periscope - a fun time. I checked out the one in our state and they have strict rules about searching cars for food, animals, and hiding people.

The drive in was a great place to have sex when we were 18-19. Back in the days before talkies.

LOL, this was back in the 80s. I'm not even sure I can find any of them.

Well then I'll just take pics of you.

Have you seen the pics of the old and decrepit Olympic venues? Thats weird.

NO I haven't but check this out. I read it on the Huffington Post Yesterday. I think it's fascinating. They found an entire abandoned town. There's also a link towards the end to an article about an abandoned renaissance fair.

That is an outstanding idea, make it so!

Oh, I will!

Wasn't Down Periscope the goofy submarine movie with Kelsey Grammar? That was a fun one.

I find it very telling that the current response of many people to Ebola is nearly identical to the response of people to HIV back in the '80s. That is to say, it brings the bigots and nutjobs out of the woodwork. Then, as now, their fearmongering and paranoia ACTIVELY MAKE THE PROBLEM WORSE. The best preventatives are information and healthy habits, not senseless fear.

We had a drive in in our town and in the adjacent town.

Shenanigans.

I fell asleep after Harriet the Spy, but I quite enjoyed it. May have had something to do with being an 8-9 year old girl.
