"Odious"? That's a rather strong word for an exercise in "just for fun", isn't it?

objectively, it is.

making a special list of members inherently separates some from others.
if its not based on quantifiable criteria, then its subjective. and that means some people with be hurt or offended if they're not among the chosen.

this is playground 101, i'm not dropping knowledge that you as adults don't already know.

the odious part comes in when you know that making lists will ruffle some folks' feathers, but you proceed with it anyway.

personally it doesn't matter to me, i don't want to be on a list. but i'm not blind to those around here who feel slighted

That's why voting has been so random.

If it was popularity only, I think nominees would have even been different.

Ruffles or feathers, please. Ruffles AND feathers are really too much.

Rumba-butt panties for the win!

I sat out voting the first three or four rounds because it seemed like I didn't know enough of the old timers having only traipsed through the GB intermittently for a decade.

I decided that those that are currently active so that I can form an opinion that they contribute meaningfully, even If I frequently disagree with their points of view should be in.

I also cast some ballots for some of the old timers that I don't recall from their time period, but enough reminisces were shared by people to give me a flavor of who that poster was made sense too.

If their impact was significant enough for the tribe's retelling to make me feel connected to them, they are in.

It never occurred to me to vote within a certain political party, even though the division is quite clear.

Do people do that?

Yes, but we assume that folks who spend time on this particular board understand.

Ruffles, but no feathers.

i prefer french onion dip myself.
Once again, Ruffles, but no feathers. {That one took me a minute or two. I'm not always the sharpest crayon in the cookie jar.}

There's an exception to every rule.

helluvagood french onion dip fucking rocks, no doubt
But it's still not very good with feathers. Stick with Ruffles.

Love me some mixed metaphors.

...tasty as sliced soup from a can.

Smile to some similes.

.......

Deleted because I didn't understand the rules completely.

I think, at the very least, there's been people voting based on popularity, people voting based on how each nominee affected the board, people voting based on how each nominee affected them personally, people voting for their friends, people voting against their "enemies", people voting randomly just to mess with things, and people voting strategically to any one of those ends.

But I think nominations—or perhaps more so seconds—were probably actually the most popularity driven aspect of it.
