I usta work with a gal who was an E6 in the Florida National Guard. She operated a truck company and was sent to Iraq to transport shit from the airport to town.

On one trip her convoy passed by some dead Iraquis killed along the road. They hadda evacuate her to Germany then home. PTSD. At home she was too delicate to return to work and hadda apply for a medical retirement from the state and the military. Poor soul.

In Vietnam a kid I knew got a sliver of shrapnel in his armpit and came unglued. One of the men who toted him to the meat wagon had half his body chewed up from shrapnel. Sid cried and wailed the whole way, and the real wounded kept comforting him with, YOURE GONNA BE OKAY, DONT WORRY.
