Elegant Ladies.

I'm very much admiring the elegant ladies. :D

My own perception is that elegance is acquired with age and experience. I'd agree with May's definition:

Elegance is, in my view, all about poise and self-knowledge.
Indeed, I'm unable to think of many younger women in the public spotlight whom I would describe as elegant (although they may be admirable in many other ways).

Go to the Pinup Girls thread started by Miss Cassidy for my rant on why I love pinup girls which is along the same lines though much more direct. Either page 2 or 3.

As an aside, I normally don't care about the Emmys or Grammys and related, but I happened to see Julia Louise Dreyfus in her red dress and she would sit very well in this thread. Absolutely classy in every sense of the word. She looked fantastic.

Thanks! I found it here. :)

I'm a massive fan of pin-up art, for exactly the reasons that you give. I'm particularly keen on the work of Gil Elvgren in the 1950s and 1960s.

My fantasy occupation would be photographer (or photographer's assistant!) for ladies who wished to create their own homage to the pin-up style. I'd enjoy so much encouraging them to relax, embrace the playful aspect and express their natural confidence and femininity in that way. I've done something similar with my wife and a female friend, and it was great fun. :)

That was sort of my goal when I was going for my degree in Photography a few eons ago. Along the lines of Playboy and such. Unfortunately things didn't work out and it's difficult to find women, in general, to gain that experience to move to the next level. Try asking a woman on the street if you can take her picture without it sounding creepy.

Many of the pinup pics give me many ideas but without ready access tomwilling participants, and the associated clothes, it's a supremely uphill struggle.

Same goes for this thread. I have some fantastic ideas but need to find the right person. And hope the places I want use as my backdrop are willing to agree.

I'm surprised to hear that. Obviously, it's an odd proposition for a random woman on the street, but I'd imagine that there would be no shortage of ladies who would wish to volunteer as subjects given a few reassurances.

As I explained in my thread on this topic a year ago, I was readily able to persuade my wife and a female friend (both of whom are somewhat shy) to participate in a sexy photo shoot with a professional photographer. We hadn't met the photographer before, although I had done suitable prior research. Both ladies were understandably nervous beforehand but, once they took the floor in the studio, they quickly relaxed and entered fully into the necessary spirit. It was an eye-opener for me (to say the least!) and both ladies found it a most empowering experience.
