Eyewitness "Steve" says Brown was running at cop when shot

I hope investigators have identified, located and talked with "Steve" and gotten a statement from him, and that he will be testifying before the grand jury.

This could be a key witness in the case. Could turn things in favor of the cop. Says shooting justified.

Edit: Also listen at 1:44:30. Apparently there's another eyewitness who says Brown was going toward the cop when shot. Also says Brown was screaming at the cop, calling him a cracker, etc. Sounds like that's another eyewitness who should be located by investigators.

Obviously not all black people in Ferguson think the cop was in the wrong.

I refuse to follow it because it is beyond sickening to see the glee in the media as it does everything it can to spur a race war. No, the autopsy won't show whether Brown was moving toward the cop when shot. That's why eyewitness testimony will be extremely important in this case.

"Steve" sounds obviously black, so branding him a racist is unlikely. Branding him an Uncle Tom, or something worse, more likely. But if the authorities do their jobs properly, he can be found, and can testify in secret before the grand jury, as can the witness referred to at 1:40:30 or so on the video, who is probably also black.

I understand your comments about the masses and the media. I also understand why the masses and the media should not be allowed to decide whether this cop is sent to prison.

Actually...it will. If he was shot in the front he was at least facing the cop. If he was shot in the back, he wasn't.

The preliminary autopsy showed he was shot in the front of his body.

There was one thing I heard some idiot ask...Why did he get hit in the top of his head? Of course the guy asking the question knew absolutely nothing about guns. Rapid fire of a 9mm automatic, the muzzle rises with each round fired. First shot to the thigh, next shot abdomen or lower arm, next shot lower chest, upper arm, next shot neck or face, next shot top of head. I guess CNN had no one that could explain that to him.

No, it won't. It can show which way Brown was facing when shot, but not whether he was moving forward or not. He could have been standing still, or even backing up. I doubt he was backing up, because he fell on his face, but it's possible.

I see two plausible explanations for why Brown was shot in the top of the head. One, he could have been bullrushing the cop with his head down in a tackling position, and two, he could have been falling on his face when the shot hit.

And I will bet it can. The angle of the wound track will show in what position his body was in when the bullets hit him. If he was just standing there, they will be straight in. If he was running toward the cop, then they will have entered his body at a downward angle. So ballistics will show what Brown was doing at the time he was hit by the bullets.

No, again you're wrong. If he was standing still when the first shots hit, then started falling forward, that could explain a bullet trajectory at an angle for the final shots. At this point, I'm inclined to believe he was probably moving forward, not simply falling forward, but the autopsy won't prove one or the other being the case.

First, this is not a political thread. Second, did you read the rules for this forum? The HT Cafe has its own rules, which you can find above. Third, of course I'm looking for feedback.
