Is there some sort of alert or another easier way of telling when you've been quoted than going back and forth through your subscribed posts?

Not that I know of.

When I'm quoted it is usually not a good thing!:D

I usually get all pissed off...

whenever I try using the search function here, but maybe try using advance search and putting your username into the "keyword" section... search for posts, not threads... And search in each individual forum you visit, not just "all open" or "main lit. forums".
Maybe?

Google site search should turn up quoted text. The forum software ignores quoted text in its search functions.

Also, unless the quote is tagged as being yours, (as the quoted text above,) you'll need to search for everything you've posted instead of just searching for your name.

You can changed the default notification methods in the options under your User CP under the Default Thread Subscription Mode.

The default is "No email notification". You can change this to "Instant email notification" to all thread that are responded to. You can also select one of the others...

Daily email notification
Weekly email notificaiton

When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

Default Thread Subscription Mode:

This doesn't know if you have been quoted, only that someone else had posted a response (not necessarily to you) on that thread.

A very quick way to have you inbox cluttered with email.
