how well armed are you?

Typical liberal winnie response. You and your anti gun ilk assume that people who own guns only have them for protection. You can't except the fact that people enjoy shooting the same way people enjoy golf, tennis or any other recreational activity.

My guns are just another set of tools and toys that I own.

I have a Ruger LC9CT I sometimes carry. I own a bolt action magazine fed .308 rifle, a 12-ga pump-action shotgun, and a semi-automatic .22 rifle. Oh, and a PPK/S in .380 that I hardly ever do anything with because I haven't got around to making it feed reliably yet. I plan to purchase one more gun, a .357 revolver, and then I will never feel the need to buy another gun unless I find myself in some specialized situation like hunting very large game, which is extremely unlikely. I enjoy going to the range and shooting trap; it's a fun way to while away a few hours.

I don't own any guns but am fortunate not to live in a fearful society.

I do however, enjoy going on a hunting trip occasionally (Pigs Deer, wild dogs, various feral animals, even camels recently) Other, younger folk do the shooting.

It staggers me that so many people place their faith in the ownership of a gun. They learn how to use it, to look after it, but they do not know how to kill, and in particular, kill another human being.

Most of the would be vigilantes would cry, shake like leaves, piss and shit themselves if they were ever in the situation where killing another person up close and personal was necessary. That is a totally normal human response. It's frightening, and without the necessary training and experience most people cannot do it. Killing is not easy but you can be taught/conditioned to do it. Learning to kill is totally different to learning to shoot.

I have some swords, too, but I find the gun is less hysteria-inducing in public. If my "zaitochi" sword looked more like a walking stick, I'd haul it around just for the fun of carrying a sword. Because, yanno, Dungeons and Dragons and shit.

I'm over 6ft and built like a brick shithouse, so no one is dragging me anywhere I don't want to go. Apart from my house keys I have nothing to defend myself with, unless iPhone headphones can be used as a garrotte...

Mace/Pepper Spray is illegal in my country.

Never realized you were human-sized too. I figured you were a typical little person. We could dance without awkwardness. And have sex standing up.

As opposed to walking down the street and someone puts a gun in your face? Or laying in bed and hearing the front door shatter?

Most unarmed people would cry, shake like leaves, piss and shit themselves and hope the police could make it in the next 10 or 15 minutes. Or really bad neighborhood ... 30 minutes.
