how well armed are you?

Do you have cops or a swat team that perpetually protect you the moment you leave the house? That's typically the deluded mindset of people that abhor guns. That law enforcement will be standing next to you so they can protect your naive ass in that one moment in your life when shit goes down.
As of lately, it seems I'd rather need a gun to protect myself from cops and swat teams. ;)

Seems you missed my point. Statistically, you're much more likely to trip on your front porch and crack your skull, than get shot by a psycho on a rampage.

So why do you choose to protect yourself so rigorously against one, and not the other?

45 years and haven't had any life threatening shit go down yet. I guess I lead a charmed life.

edited to add: Maybe I will consider wrapping myself in bubble wrap.

Look at all the terrified Americans.

Yeah. English people just use knives to cut peoples heads off.

I have a .45 sitting on my desk, it's either there, on my belt or in my briefcase. I also have a 30-30 lever action rifle. I also have a carry permit.

My girlfriend has a .357 revolver, a .22 revolver and a Walther PPQ. .40 cal.

Have you ever bought more than one condom before?

You're only weapon is a lawnmower blade against a gopher.

Unless you're a farmer, wilderness resident, bonded courier, private investigator, or drug dealer, I've never understood why people "needed" so many guns to "protect" themselves. Protect from WHAT?

In the past I only consider guns for sport shooting or hunting. But times have changed. I don't go looking for trouble and would avoid it if at all possible. But I have a motto, Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. Given no other option, Im ready. A 240gr hollow point will drop anything on 2 legs unless you have on body armor, even then you are probably going down.

NN and I were held up in his driveway a week to the day after I moved to town.

After moving from an area of Connecticut where you're more likely to run into deer, be sprayed by a skunk, or trip over a raccoon, I was terrified. Not that this town is so big and scary, it's really pretty average-sized (I think), but it's a lot more crowded than where I came from.

I almost never carry cash, but luckily I had $20 that my uncle had given me before we left Connecticut. It was enough to get the guy to move on because he just wanted quick cash for drugs.

We both have knives given to us by others (I keep mine in my car, he sometimes carries his in his pocket) and I ordered spray mace for us both right after we got held up.
They put the guy in jail for a long time years because he'd been robbing a whole bunch of people richer than us.

I've still never breathed a word of it to anyone at home, because I know they would freak the fuck out.

I don't know if you have heard...what with you being neighbors with Lance...but we are importing the very best and brightest dreamers in the world from El Salvador. They have this charming little boys club called MS-13?

After Sheriff Joe annoyed a number of of them out of State, Phoenix is no longer number 2 in the world for kidnapping, but we still hold our own on the world stage.

I-10 is considered a major drug trafficking pipeline. Meth and pot and black tar heroin out of Mexico.

Meth addicts are usually too poor to be armed so seeing a gun on your hip is usually sufficient deterrent.

Top 10 car theft meccas... more stolen than car-jacked, but some people prefer to have keys in the ignition.

Our two universities import young men to commit rape and assault...oops I mean to play ball..

Then of course there is road rage.

Funny though. the areas that are REALLY heavily armed don't seem to have any of those problems. I don't usually lock the bunkhouse.

Zombies, Villians, ISIS, Putin, etc.

Honestly mostly what concerns me is civil unrest such as if the water supply ran out or something. I'd be protecting myself from the likes of YOU trying to steal my shit.

I used my firearm to put a deer down that had been hit by a car once too so it can also be used for humanitarian purposes.

Here's an interesting video comparing violence statistics when you compare the U.S. against Great Britain and Wales. The stats are from the FBI and the Home Office over the last 20 years.

I CCW a 9mm Sig all the time.

Even though the threat for an attempted abduction of Peanut is currently low, her psycho birth mother and felon brother still live in the area.

You're living scared. Man up, drop your balls, and LIVE LIFE!

I own a single handgun, not an arsenal. I'm
considering getting a small Walther PPK if I decide
to get a conceal/carry permit (my Glock 19 is to
large to conceal in my opinion.

In Milwaukee where I'm from, there have been
two mass shootings in the past 5-6 years. I'm not
running towards a dangerous situation, but I'd
like some semblance of protection if a dangerous
situation is forced upon me (hopefully, that day
may never come but I'm no psychic so I'd like to
cover my bases.)

This reminds me of a safety video I was forced to
watch at work in the case of a gunmen entering
the building. The three options in the video
offered were:

Fight
Hide
or Run

After the video I asked the presenter what if an
employee has a conceal/carry permit? He said
firearms are not allowed on the premises.
Afterwards, I was chatting with one of the
security guards in the main lobby of our corporate
headquarters. I asked if he had watched that video.

He said "yes".

I asked him if they were going to get weapons
and training since employees are not allowed to
conceal carry.

His answer was "no".

Finally, I asked him what's to stop a gunman from
walking in here, shooting you in the head, taking
your badge, and then go on a rampage
throughout the building?

His response was "nothing".

so yanks really are disproportionally scared.

Nows a good time to add that it was your country that invaded this country with guns I might add and got your asses and hats handed to you and you scurried back home like little rats with bad teeth.

Little over a year ago, we had a shooting in a yard right behind. Three shots for a .22, a man died at the scene. It was "gang" related.

Did I run out and get a gun?
Did my wife demand we get a gun, because she was scared they'd be after her next?

No and no.

I place quotes around gang, because the man who was shot was a well-known associate in a wannabe group of criminals. He was shot by someone from another like gang. But, it was over a woman

This was an isolated and old time shooting.
