Every Christmas my grandmother would make a box full of essentially art supplies. Simple stuff: construction paper, tape, glue, other paper, scissors, staplers, etc. It was probably not too expensive, but she always stuck in weird stuff that you just probably wouldn't buy, but it was cool. As a kid I didn't fully appreciate it, but as an adult, it is one of the few Christmas gifts I actually really remember, and I know I used it all up, year after year.
