I own both. Depends on my mood. I have a jelly suction cup that I love to grind in the shower while I wash myself, but when laying down and getting myself off in bed I love my solid glass dildo. It just hits the spots harder

Solid, mainly. The jelly ones sometimes smell horrible (and I mean brand new clean ones, it's just the jelly that smells), and they often stick and chafe if even one spot doesn't have enough lube. Solid toys require less lube, are easier to clean, are usually odorless, and are pleasantly cool to the touch, at least at the start of a play session.

I prefer silicone when it comes to sex toys. Its not as porous as rubber, so it is safer and easier to clean and it feels more realistic than hard plastic when using it for insertion.
